The Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee is leading the conservative crusade against public schools.
At the end of a campaign defined by equivocation, Glenn Youngkin has fully embraced the right-wing narrative on "critical race theory" and transgender panic in the final week before Virginia elects a new governor.
Youngkin became the Republican nominee for governor in large part by paying lip service to supporters of former President Donald Trump. Since winning his party's primary in May, however, Youngkin has tried to keep Trump at arm's length to appeal to more moderate voters.
But Youngkin isn't afraid of sounding too much like Trump anymore.

The bottom line is that this Youngkin character supports authoritarians or being a fascist, because if he gets elected in my home state
this country is just plain fucked , and I hope democrats get out and vote....

This is Glenn Youngkin, a political correct version of David Duke.

(4,897 posts)I'm glad he's decided to go all-in on tRump at the 11th hour. The Orange Shitgibbon is absolutely toxic in Virginia. Hopefully it will sway those independents who voted blue last year to vote blue again.

(10,828 posts)The whole CRT non-issue is red hot for the MAGA crowd and that's who Youngkin needs--all those low propensity Trump voters to come back out of the woodwork. If you recall, Gillespie went for the MS-13 rant to beat the bushes in his last big push against Northam.
It didn't work.
Gillespie said (after the fact) that he regretted jumping into the meme sewer.
Let's hope the CRT mania has a similar effect.
This and Youngkin's equally craven attacks on George Soros recently makes me think Republican confidence in the election's outcome is slipping.

(45,470 posts)distortion. His every statement is intended to divide and agitate the Trumpian base. Even the POs Ken Cuccinelli believed in things. Not so with Youngkin. I hope to gawd, my fellow Virginians show up to vote.
Mrs. FSogol, myself, and 2 sons decided to vote in person on election date to avoid any USPS shenanigans.
