When you have more money than you can possibly spend,more power than 99% of people ,having every whim catered to and
more groveling servants than you could use, people willing to funnel young victims to rape and cover it up for decades
any luxury at your fingertips and so mant true believers and duplitcious allies what would ever take away the boredom and stimulate you to make you feel alive again?

Do we have to let them do this? Because two senators will not be honest and say outright why they are blocking the things that would save democracy? Maybe they know the reason would destroy them.

As far as money is concerned, their constituents simply can't match what moneyed interests can offer. Even in off years, the latter can lavish them with gifts, generous contributions to campaign coffers, and promises of cushy jobs should they lose reelection or retire. Nothing is more enticing than the promise of financial security.

For these reasons, it's easy for unscrupulous Senators to ignore the public service aspects of their job, as they didn't seek the job for noble reasons.
