However, that being said, 30 minutes after the shot, at home, I felt a sudden lower back muscular contraction. In the past, it's been my body signaling that something's up with my blood pressure. I immediately took a home reading, shocked to find my normal 133/85 having shot up to 205/105. I didn't panic but took some notes.
I went to the doctor yesterday morning. While my B/P started coming down, it was still too high.
I called the Pfizer Covid Hotline and the guy had no idea what I was talking about.
I returned to the pharmacist this evening and reported the hypertension episode and she calmly responded that this is a possible side effect for some people as a result of the vaccine. It should continue coming down.
Emphasis: I'm not dissuading anyone from getting vaccine as needed. I just wanted to let you all know about the spike in blood pressure after the shot if this should happen to you.

(46,084 posts)First, the pain subsided within 5 minutes, but the elevated B/P lingered and is still lingering.

(34,066 posts)and I had a spell (unrelated to vaccines) when my blood pressure was extremely elevated because of taking ibuprofen.
