If we're honest and not trying to poke each other with fake outrage all of us would say this is the Fault of Manchin and Sinema. They're not moderates, they have no ideology. They've been corrupted by $$. It's as simple as that. Let's stop beating each other up with bullshit we know is not true. We do not have a mandate! The VP is the Senate tie breaker and Biden can not legally out bribe dark money interest pouring in to two Senators.

(16,076 posts)to buy us a couple of senators. If they are for sale, we should buy them to work for us.
Maybe pick off a few lesser known republicans.
But yeah, it is Manchin and Sinema.

But, then the oligarchs would kick in even more and we'd lose the bidding war.

(13,912 posts)should pay them $50 million or whatever it takes to buy them off. Its probably not legal but desperate times call for desperate measures.

(53,743 posts)we can get now and get projects and jobs rolling, help into the hands of people who need it so we can win the mid-terms, then get the rest later.
Progressives have to step up and not embarrass the president.

(53,743 posts)and have us over a barrel and they know it. We need to get projects and jobs and benefits rolling now so they are felt before the mid-terms. If we lost our Congressional majorities it's over for Biden's presidency and probably our democracy.
We can live to fight another day once we pass both bills. It's not over yet. Sinema and Manchin are both disgusting turncoats.

(58,785 posts)Nearly 250 house and senate Democrats, including almost the entire progressive caucus, are LIBERAL. They're also progressive.
The exceptions are a couple dozen other conservatives and a handful of exceptions off to the far left who identify separately from over 200 Democratic progressives as Progressives.
What Sinema is, no one knows yet, just that she deceived the left to get their votes.
As for who would be to blame if the bills were killed? Whoever did it!
So far Sinema and Manchin have killed parts.
A couple of far-left "exceptions" have been threatening to kill the whole thing. We're waiting to see if they're progressive or Progressives. We're our actions, not the labels we adopt to sell ourselves to the world.
