The former president on Wednesday teased the possibility that he would campaign in Virginia before the election, but will do the tele-rally, typically a call with supporters to generate support for the candidate, the person said.
The rally comes as Democrat Terry McAuliffe, the former Virginia governor running against Youngkin, former co-CEO of Carlyle Group Inc., has sought to tether the two Republicans. On Tuesday, President Joe Biden appeared at a McAuliffe campaign rally in Arlington, Virginia, where he repeatedly jabbed his predecessor.
Biden won Virginia by 10 points last November. Polls show the race in a dead-heat in the final stretch after McAuliffe had previously held a consistent lead.

The McAuliffe people are probably high-fiving right now!

(82,849 posts)If Youngkin pulls it out, Trump will claim credit for his victory.
When Youngkin loses by 10 points or more, Trump will say that Youngkin could have won if he'd just listened to Trump. Trump gets to claim victory either way.

(6,477 posts)If McAuliffe loses, of course Trump will take credit. If he wins, Trump will excoriate Youngkin for only allowing him to do a tele-rally, where an in-person would have pushed him over the top. This is like when Trump did a Florida rally to sorta support that dipshit in Alabama.

Because it's always about Trump and his grievance.

(23,926 posts)How is southside looking? Fairfax and Arlington are solid, but Loudon and Prince William may be iffy. What do you see your way?
Ive got a bad feeling about this. Terry hasnt run a very good campaign. Youngkin started pouring money out early. He was everywhere that I saw and Terry wasnt.
As usual it will be about getting out the vote. Ive saw a great analysis on Twitter that said Youngkin is going to have get at least 42 in Loudon or Fairfax to have a chance. My question is does Youngkin get a big turnout in Chesterfield? Chesterfield traditionally absorbs Henrico since it turned blue in 2008.
Lots of Youngkin signs especially large ones on commercial property on the main drags around here. Last week I saw a guy with a Youngkin sign just waving to traffic. I sense a lot of energy on Youngkin side. The media Terry is getting is mostly bad. The comment about parents and schools at the debate normally would be a campaign crusher but well see.
I think Republicans consistently are under polled. They dont trust anything media related so I doubt they answer polls and or lie. The off off year election is nothing new but I dont hear a lot of chatter about the race.
Hopefully Im wrong.

(23,926 posts)Besides the fucking "we need a horse race" press, I've also noticed a huge influx of Terry ads in NOVA recently.
This should be secure territory for the good guys, but we're spending money up here.
Hopefully we're both wrong.

(182,767 posts)Ive noticed Terry turning on the ad gas recently everywhere. My family tells me he is all over YouTube right now. Maybe he was waiting until the end and just drown it.
This never made sense to me but it is confirmed - campaign managers get paid more the more they spend. I guess its to make sure they empty everything. Maybe that explains the ads. As you know NOVA with some other cities can win the whole state so more there covers the rural red areas.
