Huge news! The #BuildBackBetter Act includes EVERY eligible provision of my #Momnibus Act! Thank you @POTUS & @VP for championing these historic investments to save moms' lives and advance maternal health equity! I'm looking forward to voting for this critical legislation soon.

(68,552 posts)am awestruck. I didn't think it was possible. I am very pleased. There is much good in this bill. Did we get everything- no. But this provision alone will save women's lives.

(29,067 posts)my town (Wauconda) was also part of the 6th, and I was so passed when they put us in the 14th because it was so Republican..Well, now, as was mentioned upthread, they are enlarging the 14th, so you may be included..Hope for your sake you are.

(23,973 posts)...Sean Casten, who seems to be OK, but not as impressive as Underwood. My husband and I worked for someone else in the 6th primary, Kelly Mazeski, who probably would have won the primary if there hadn't been too damn many people running - 7 in all. Less than 2000 votes separated Casten and Mazeski, and the remaining 5 candidates split almost 30,000 votes amongst them, none of then coming even close to the top 2. The bottom 2 didn't even crack 3000 votes each.
It frustrates me when candidates with no chance stay in, and stay in, and stay in. Selfish and egotistical, IMO.
Our little town of Algonquin was featured in a newspaper as a Republican strionghold.

(29,067 posts)I was wondering what made me think you were from Texas, and I think its that I checked your profile and it said you had a couple of posts in the Texas forum.
Are you originally from Connecticut?..My sister lived there with her family for decades.
Back at ya!

But I'm only about 90 minutes from midtown, basically equidistant from NYC and Boston.

(15,325 posts)That she took that prenatal/mom focus all the way thru an election win, to be seated where her influence could be written into policy, and here she stands today.
Proud to support & applaud Rep Lauren Underwood.
Smart, dedicated & leader supported.
Today she won it & brought her dream to full success.

(42,862 posts)Other politicians and pundits who like to tweet a lot frequently put their focus almost entirely on everything negative... blaming Biden (instead of Republicans), shitting on Biden (instead of Republicans), shitting on Democrats, smearing on party leadership. (What a waste! How counter-productive.)
I really like Lauren Underwood's approach. She's a doer, a go-getter... she's results oriented! She understands that legislation is much more important that getting new twitter followers and re-tweets of provocative posts.

(42,302 posts)So much negativity surrounding this bill - today particularly.
I'm so old I remember the same shite before the ACA was passed. This also is a BFD.

(8,572 posts)I thought this was a great plan when I first read about it, and I think Rep Underwood is doing a great job. I salute and appreciate all our women (well okay, one of them not so much; I'm looking at you Sen. Sinema) and they are bringing the changes and policies we need.
