A White House official says the engagement between the two was very warm when the delegation arrived

A White House official says the engagement between the two was very warm when the delegation arrived in the room. There was laughter and clear rapport between President Biden and Pope Francis.

The Vatican shared that President Biden and Pope Francis met privately for one hour and 15 minutes, which is a long time for the Pope to spend with any world leader. President Obama’s one on one meeting lasted for 50 minutes. President Trump’s was 30 minutes.

I'm guessing the pope was violating one of the commandments in his mind.

Says it all. Only The Don is capable of a fake smile. Pope Francis? He looks demoralized.

As for Melania? WTF? She looks as if she were going to Donnie's funeral, only to realize he'd been reanimated, cheesy smile and all.

Ivanka? Is that her wedding dress with matching headpiece? Ghoulish.

What a family!

Joe Biden is a fundamentally decent human being. We all have our faults and weaknesses but when you are talking about Trump and Biden, you are talking about an irredeemable sociopath versus a flawed but fundamentally decent person.

As much horrific things as the Church has done, I think that Pope Francis believes in the doctrine of Social Justice and thus, being in the presence of such an transparently disgusting person as Trump, would have been off putting. The meeting was out of obligation to having to sit with the elected leader of the most powerful country on earth. With Biden, who is a practicing Catholic, who likely understands and does his best to live the faith, it would be like getting together with someone you can relate to. It would be interesting to know what Biden and Francis spoke about in private.
