I think it was a 50 year plan. It got worst when Obama was elected. Trump was going on Fox sprewing that Birther nonsense and 16 when the Republicans made a deal with Trump and Putin. Trump even made sure the census of how we determine who can vote an steal seats was part of this bigger plan.

But he's also not going to do anything to combat the fascism.

I'm sure that won't stop some here at DU from waiting for it to happen though.

attitudes in local leaders. And with fascism rising across the nation we are seeing it in state and national government. And we have to focus on that last. It would help to consider what living under a fascist dictatorship or RW kleptocratic cabal would mean, as well as the genuine danger of a white national takeover of whatever kind. It wouldn't be anything like what we're already living with.

We care a lot here about the rights of women and minority groups of all kinds, climate, healthcare, fair pay and labor rights, progressive government around here. The vote!

They're all on the line.

THEY DON'T EXIST IN FASCISTIC DICTATORSHIPS, not as we know them, and at best are oppressed, severely diminished, or erased in white nationalist and/or theocratic authoritarian states.

Fascistic followers, and we know who millions of them would be, are typically placated in their unhappiness by blame and persecution of groups they hate. There's never been a fascist state that didn't oppress women and viciously persecute targeted groups.

Of course they hate the left big time; we traffic children. There are a whole lot of us, but that'd still quickly become a serious personal problem for too many. Anyone up for being beaten by the police or even "disappeared" for not pledging allegiance to Der Leader? Any "sexual deviants"? Nonchristians? Anyone here like his job and would have problems if he lost it and couldn't get another? Any minorities mind if they could only get hired for jobs saved just for them?

Would it be a problem if Social Security was "privatized," opening individual accounts up to "free market' manipulation by predators? (And it would be, they're panting to get at it.) Obect to abolishment of mandatory public education and the taxation that pays for it?

We can't afford to not put saving our democracy, which makes progressivism possible, our top battle. 2021-2022 isn't all about how progressive to be, any more than 2016 was about which healthcare plan to have. It's all one enormous, ongoing struggle for power and only one side is going to win. It has to be us.

Those here who think this is an exaggeration: what do you THINK Steve Schmidt, Laurence Tribe, Marc Elias, countless other including JOE BIDEN are TALKING ABOUT when they say our democracy is under attack and at stake??!!
