Trump started his defense strategy for losing the 2020 election early in the year
It was initially about mail-in ballot fraud and eventually became simply, rigged elections. In August he said ..the only way we're going to lose this election is if the election is rigged
Then in the wee hours of Nov 4 he said, Frankly, we did win this election, and from that point on, it was full bore election fraud lies and conspiracy theories.
There was a 24 hour period where a few Republican lawmakers accepted the Biden win, but they quickly retreated to a politically safe position, supporting Trumps refusal to concede. McConnell said Trump was 100% within his rights to question election results and consider legal options.
Needless to say, the 73M people who voted for Trump were more than eager to buy Trumps lies and election irregularities innuendo, without any evidence to support either.
As the weeks and months went by, Trump continued to embellish and exaggerate the lies with statements of proof but lacking the details of any proof. Additionally, pro-Trump news sources, like Fox, allowed Republicans on the show, making baseless, incendiary statements day after day after day.
So, the die has been cast
even if Trump was totally removed from the equation and all the McConnell types did a full about-face, said Trump didnt win what was a righteous election, the base isnt going to concede
the only situation they are going to accept is a Trump personality in the White House. If the ongoing Republican shenanigans succeed and they retake control, the dissension on the radical right will end
but what if that doesnt take place?

(14,118 posts)Fascists are and always have been ratfuckers extraordinaire, but they have been and
still are a minority of voters in this country. Plus they're killing themselves off with
their antiv-vax and anti-mask Free-Dumb. And they're getting put in jail on a daily basis so I'm willing to keep an eye on them and allow them to keep on with their
antics. For now.

(2,254 posts)..and that there are far more voters who grasp what's going on and prefer sane people in office. But my concern is whether or not they'll make the effort to vote. And by the time the GOOD guys decide elected office ain't worth it, there may not be enough GOOD guys to vote for.
And I firmly believe it's the state governments that will take down the country.

(2,570 posts)the war is between our anti-individual rights containing constitutional government based on equality before the law for all and the corporate and banking billionaires desire for a more authoritarian government, subject to their needs, not the needs of a nation as a whole that includes serving the people.
Yes the economy is sufficiently monopolized that boycotts no longer have much power and not much impact on a bottom line.
