I was out doing support (basic living items) for the Unsheltered today. We encouraged folks coming through to take all they needed. One man, who appeared to be in desperate shape, said, "no I don't need that much, I want to make there is plenty for people coming after me."
From the poorest emerges the most kindness.

.this man or Trump? And remember God sent trump. Some one should explain to NC Lt Gov that says God sent trump and claims Christians will rule America under trump. Mathew 25 has a different opinion based on words straight from Jesus, the real one, not the white one.
And Kudos to you folks helping the homeless. Pretty sure your path is more certain than ANY trump and most of his Christian cult. Bravo to you, and thanks for sharing a story of good still here.

(6,161 posts)I think the problem here is exactly who the Lt. Gov. worships as god.
I don't think it's the same God that Jesus is a Son of.
I think Trump represents a different kind of "god".
A god without love; a god without compassion; a god without any of the attributes we normally associate with God.
A pretender to the throne so to speak.
Sooooo many evilgelicals are out there screaming from the pulpit, as they have since 2015, that Trump is Gods right hand man. American Taliban is preparing for their takeover. They got the trucks, the flags and the guns. Trump is their Cleric. The rant from NC Lt Gov was posted here this AM. Sick and warped take on any religion. And he is not alone in preaching they will rule with their God and non followers will bleed in the streets.

(17,902 posts)Studies have repeatedly shown, those of modest to moderate means are more generous that those of significant wealth. The two are inversely proportional.

(16,165 posts)and had to wear a sling for about 4 weeks while I was out and about. I couldn't drive so I got a one month bus pass to just get around and out of the house.
I was sitting at a bus stop and two homeless guys came by and sat down next to me. They began to tell me what to watch out for on the streets, where to get a "good" meal, and how to drink beer without being suspicious to the police. They offered me two hamburgers from a fast food joint that someone had given them and an unopened bottle of water.
When the bus came they told me to board first and introduced me to others on the bus in worse shape than I was.
It was a wake up for sure

(12,463 posts)And each others well being. When I was 20 something and living in a residential psych halfway house in the 80's I dated a homeless guy, he was 1 year younger than me and he was the sweetest person and he was a punk like me. He squatted in an abandoned loft house with a few really kind other homeless people,
Couple of punks, goths, two other older guys and a metalhead. They were from several different towns and ended up there..
It was impressive the way homeless people looked out for each other. They always would yell up to my window in residential to ask if I was doing ok,or to come and hang out.
One day I helped my boyfreind color his mowhawk in a janitors closet in a hospital.
The janitor let him wash up and stuff there. He brought us several rubber gloves. I
bought the bleach and dye and did his hawk blonde with black spots. I was suprised it turned out so good.
I teased him about having cheetara hair.(thundercats)

(16,165 posts)your life is going to be very unfulfilling . Sure, you can buy whatever you want but asking yourself, "do those people like me for me or my money?" is not the way I'd want to live.
I picture the kochs, the devoss, the *rumps, mercers and the rest of the clan worrying about where their money is going to go when they die and they have NO CONTROL over it.
