Former President Donald Trump plans to travel to Atlanta on Saturday to attend Game 4 of the Major League Baseball World Series between the Atlanta Braves and the Houston Astros, remarking that he expects to receive a "great reception" from the crowd because he "did tremendously" in Georgia during last year's presidential contest despite losing the state.
During a Friday appearance on "The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," a conservative talk radio program, Trump contended that he would be received warmly by the crowd in the fast-growing Southern state and continued to point to unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud nearly a year after the November 2020 election.
"Tremendous, tremendous, terrible things happened in terms of that election, and election fraud, frankly," the former president said. "But we did tremendously in Georgia, and I think we'll get a great reception."
President Joe Biden defeated Trump in Georgia last fall by 11,779 votes out of nearly 5 million ballots cast - Biden received 2,473,633 votes, or 49.5%, while Trump earned 2,461,854 votes, or 49.2%.
In suburban Cobb County, where the Braves play at Truist Park, Biden easily defeated Trump, winning by a 56%-42% margin.

No one invited Donald Trump to the World Series
So much for the former President being a popular party invite for Game 4 in Atlanta. Instead, the Braves and all of baseball would prefer not to be associated with Trump at this point in time.
Trump always wants to be the center of attention, and even though 45 is no longer President, he can't make a public appearance quietly. Nope, everything needs a press release and a subsequent controversy attached.
"Looking forward to being at the World Series in Atlanta tonight. Thank you to the Commissioner of Baseball Rob Manfred, and Randy Levine of the great New York Yankees, for the invite. Melania and I are looking forward to a wonderful evening watching two great teams!" Trump said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Braves CEO Terry McGuirk claimed Trump reached out to the team about attending the game.

(3,394 posts)90% of the time you have two men throwing the ball back and forth to each-other.
You could take all of the highlights of a typical day of baseball and condense it to 20-45 minutes a day. That I would be interested in watching.
Don't get me wrong, there are some incredible athletes and spectacular plays during some of the games, but MOST of baseball is boring.
I haven't watched a major league baseball game in well over 30 years. If I want to be entertained by a baseball game, I go to a Minor League game. The venue in Salt Lake City is spectacular with a view of the Wasatch Mountains right over left field. There are enough hits, errors, and usually runs scored to make a $15 ticket worthwhile.
Baseball has the same problem NASCAR has. Extreme times of boredom with just a few seconds of excitement.
