The GOP is using CRT in every state.

This Republican running for the Board of Ed in Westport, Connecticut has been silenced by the party for condemning the right's CRT-derangement syndrome.

over CRT. These idiots are absolutely losing their minds over it at school board meetings, protests, etc. We cannot ignore this and not fight back like we did with "death panels" and Obamacare.

No matter what they said call it Critical Religious Theory everytime someone mentions CRT say oh, you mean Critical Religious Theory and no matter how much they suggest otherwise just keep insisting it's Critical Religious Theory...no matter what they say. Gaslight, works both ways.

define an issue (or non-issue) and we are left scrambling. Why can this party not master messaging?! I am sick of being on the defensive! (Sorry, I'm amped up b/c I just read tweets from Boebert and Gaetz joking about blowing up the metal detectors at the Capitol...)

And it's going to kill us in 2022 unless the Democratic Party figures out how to fucking message. Same with getting Idiot America to understand what "socialism" is. Why are Democrats so reluctant to use the bully pulpit? Obama didn't, Biden isn't. I am not optimistic.

Refuse to accept that teaching actual history is wrong in any way, shape, or form. Drive a massive cleavage between all children being taught and the white power/white nationalist movement.

We did it with the Nazis, they are permanently stigmatised for 95% plus of people in the US (or were, hopefully still are).

I'm not sure Democrats understand how well-organized and -funded Republicans are. And STRATEGIC. They're taking over school board seats, running for local elections, passing state laws about what can and cannot be taught in public schools, etc. This isn't going away... they've been at this for decades and it's now within their reach. Besides, they've milked "socialism" for decades, they'll do the same with CRT.

It’s not a foregone conclusion that the GOP is going to take everything over. They can be defeated, they don’t have super powers. I’ll keep doing everything I can to elect Democrats at all levels and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

is finally and permanently discredited and abandon, everywhere is war

Me say war

That until there no longer first class and second class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes

Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race

A dis a war

That until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued but never attained

Now everywhere is war

War ...

Defund the Police meme. As long as it works, it doesn't matter if it's true or not. If it stops working, the GOP will come up with something else to gear up the rage/fear quotient. Before Defund the Police, it was immigrant caravans, swarms of foreigners ready to overwhelm the country. Before that, it was M-13 killing everyone and everything in sight. Step back again, it was Muslim terrorists. And when all else fails to arouse?

Commies.

It's always some threat, some issue that will tear families apart, make them hide under their beds, hurt the children.

It's bumpkus and for some reason it appeals to those who suffer periodic amnesia regarding political memes.

On the primal level, the memes are a variation of:

The Boogie Man is coming to get you and your little ones. Beware, beware.

You would think the Republican electorate would catch on. As for the media?

They love this stuff!

...and some activists hadn't pushed it under that name.

Trump's "Patriotic Education" got blown up by progressives because the labeling made it easy.

People need to think through how their labels will get received by none activists and our opponents.

As Dems, we don't do ourselves any favors by opening the door wide to this sort of thing.

But really, it's always something that the GOP uses to hammer away in nonsensical ways to gear up their base.

You're right in that Dems should avoid giving them any material to work with because as is often said:

When you're explaining, you're losing.

Still, the Republicans run these issues to the outer limits and their base falls for it. Every. Single. Time.

Critical Race Theory, for instance, has been equated to making white people feel 'uncomfortable' and/or making white children feel bad about themselves. Consequently, a banned word list cropped up in Wisconsin, a banned book list has been issued in TX, 850 books. God knows what school curriculums are going to look like. The only thing missing?

Bonfires.

The continuous hosing of disinformation, misinformation and craven propaganda is killing us. All of us.

white racial politics, grievance and baseline bigotry. CRT is the perfect cover because no one knows what it means, so it becomes an umbrella term for every white racial complaint. I'd put the current 'parental rights' howl in the same basket.

Yes, Texas has been the point of the spear on textbook content blurring the lines between fact and fantasy, how they want the world to look, past, present and future. Yes, too, Dems should refrain from offering up catchy titles that Repugs can run away with and twist to their hearts' delight. Defund the Police, for instance, was a spectacularly stupid gift. When it comes to academic treatises, they are what they are, open to misinterpretation and exploitation.

My point is that all of this has a pattern to it and is linked to a massive misinformation campaign. As Steve Bannon is famous for saying: hose the field with shit.

Chaos, confusion, disinformation. It has a purpose in destroying our social fabric by exacerbating distrust between ourselves and in our government and institutions. It sows fear, anger and despair.

This is not what a healthy society looks nor sounds like.

I place the major responsibility for all of this at the feet of the GOP, its present configuration: antidemocratic and unAmerican.
