Nothing here in Central Michigan yet. Sky is mostly clear with a low hanging fog. I couldn't spot any.

I'm in NYC, and cloudy here.
What's fun is both my parents are NYC'rs and both have seen them.
My dad visiting Seattle about 50 yrs ago on a business trip.
My mom in a rare 7 or 8 Aurora back in the late 1920's or so on a hot summer night when her family was sleeping on the roof top. It started with the red, and went into green Full Curtain display!

(471 posts)...saw them once in the 60s in western PA -- by hanging out the attic window, around midnight...
... my folks would have had a fit had they caught me doing that - but it was well worth it..
to this day I can recall the wonder of the spectacle ---
well worth the effort if you get the opportunity...

(86,369 posts)I have seen several over a number of years. Once I actually heard it and the display was more intense than I had ever seen before or since back in 1982. It lasted for several hours.
I watched one from sunset to early morning while driving from Santa Rosa, NM to Kansas City. That one started out with a bright red glow at sunset and was a big green curtain all night it seemed. It was said to be visible in Mexico. I think that one was in 1981 or 82.
Saw several while living in Wisconsin during that time but those two really were amazing.
