A big part of our problem is white people

A big part of our problem is white people cannot wrap their heads around the fact that POC are Americans. They are so scared of POC (and specifically black people) that they will vote against their own best interests in order to stop from having to come to grips with that fact. Hell they cannot even accept our own history of what happened in this country. Until people come to grips with the fact that when POC people are struggling, hurting, or being mistreated, Americans are hurting we will never move on. Republicans love to push this button.

& needs to change.

There is a segment of Whites who believe they are superior & that basically gives them the right to treat others however they want. I also think they believe that White bad behavior was limited to a few bad apples, hence their complete resistance to the idea of institutional racism.

They are bigots who don't want to acknowledge that much of their own success & prosperity in life was gotten by exploration of others, & they don't want that taught to their kids.

Seen on Facebook:

The people who threw rocks at six-year-old Ruby Bridges for going to school, don't want their grandchildren to know that they threw rocks at a little girl for going to school.

Between debt traps, unequal education opportunities, and wage stagnation; its harder than ever to pull yourself up. The rich have stacked the deck to keep the current economic strata in place, and preserve their place at the top.

Those who were at the bottom when the ladder was removed are trapped there. Due to past racial inequalities, those at the top tend to be white, and those at the bottom tend to be not.

Finishing removing the social aspect of racism still will not fix the economic inequality that exists. However resolving the latter will help the former fade away.

Hateful people are fearful of POC taking over their white world.

They don’t realize that the white world is collapsing. It has been for sometime.

Almost everyone finds out in DNA testing that they are much more than white.

By 2050 I think I read, The US will be all mixed in the DNA.

As a Gringo living in a Latin American country, it’s fine to be a minority here. Be nice and get nice in return. Easy peasy.

US should try it. Be nice get nice.

It's not white people that are the problem. It's ignorance, stupidity, and ignorant racists that are the problem. The vast majority of them are white, but not all white people are racists. Just like not all black people vote for the democratic candidate.

A stereotype is a stereotype. I don't care who you are.

The fact is that a majority of white people - in election after election - vote for Republicans and against their own interests. WTF just happened in Virginia? I'll tell you. A bunch of white suburbanites - and I'm one, so believe me I know - allowed Fox News and their Facebook feeds to panic themselves that schools might actually teach actual facts about this country's ongoing history of institutional racism and genocide. So these white suburban moms and dads rushed to the polls and elected a stone cold racist, because... panic.

Of course we're not all like that. But too many of us are. Frankly, people of color save this country over and over by reliably voting Democratic. WTF white people.

...kill ourselves.

I might suggest that you read Rita Mae Brown's long ago "Plain Brown Wrapper" where she writes about her experience in advancing lesbian rights.

She remarked at one point that one thing she found difficult to learn, but learned all the same was that not all men were the enemy.

I was briefly a gay woman's experiment in heterosexuality, and as such, was once in a while a guest in the gay women's community. It did seem that many of my then lover's friends didn't get Ms. Brown's advice.

Racism is a common disease among old fat dullard white men like me, but some of us have developed immunity and are thus asymptomatic.

I don't know that a privileged group, of which I am a guilty member has the right to ask any other group to break the cycle of racism, but I hope all human beings can learn to see our humanity before our so called "race."
