On this day, 1924, Nellie Tayloe Ross (D) was elected Gov. of WY. First woman governor
in US, only female governor of WY. She later served as Director of the US Mint from 1933 to 1953.
Nellie Tayloe Ross was born in MO 25 November 1876, and died in DC Dec. 1977, age101. She was a teacher, dedicated Dem activist, staunch Prohibitionist. She succeeded her husband as Governor of WY, after winning the special election after he died in office. A remarkable woman.

2. Remarkable indeed!
Especially considering the rampant and casual sexism of the times.

4. Unfortunately, you are, once again, correct.
Feeling much better in many respects. I've been letting my ultra-liberal, semi-hippie, feminist, environmentalist self to be totally visible and outspoken. I am by nature a quiet person so this is kind of new to me but refreshing, even at age 63. I was so elated and excited after the trump defeat that I was dancing on air. Then I came down with Covid and went through the illness pretty well compared to many. But I went into a tailspin of depression dwelling on my job situation, my divorce (although that was long ago) and other personal issues. That introspection probably really helped because I came to peace with my life to date and decided to move on. You'll be pleased to know I attended the 2021 Women's March in DC and it was truly amazing. All in all, thing are good and I appreciate your asking.
How are you doing in these crazy times? |
