A shelter in Jacksonville, North Carolina wanted to treat their guest to a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

7. I read that some shelters were inviting people in the community to foster a

pet just for Thanksgiving. They said it would be good for the pet to be around and interact with people even for a day and that the socialization would make them more adoptable. I suspect that they are hoping that at least some of the families would fall in love with the pet and adopt it rather than send it back to the shelter. ❤

How could you possibly take the pet back to the shelter after that? Hurts even to think about it!

11. I feel the same way. I would feel I had gotten its hopes built up.

Again, I suspect the shelters know that (most) people would have that reaction!

9. A couple of restaurant chefs in Buffalo NY did the same for some

shelter dogs and cats as well. I’m sorry I don’t have a link - I saw the report last night on the local news.
