"'Hello, Abigail, it's President Roosevelt.' 😆👍😁👍🇺🇸

After Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger told the New York Times that "nobody elected [President Biden] to be FDR," after Democrats lost the legislature and the governor's race in November, and some blamed Democratic lawmakers, the Virginia Democrat received an unexpected phone call while she was on the House floor voting.

"I go into the cloakroom, and they say, 'the president and the White House are trying to get a hold of you.' And I thought they were kidding. They were not kidding," Spanberger told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in this week's episode of "The Takeout" podcast.

"'Hello, Abigail, it's President Roosevelt.' And I wanted to crawl under the table," Spanberger recalled. "And I said, 'Hello, Mr. President,' and he starts laughing and says, 'Oh, I'm glad you have a good sense of humor, Abigail,' to which I could barely contain myself and said, I'm glad you have a good sense of humor, Mr. President."

Yet, not to take anything away from our current, excellent president, but even Mickey Mouse would have been an improvement.

first thing Trump would have done is ask for a picture of her so he could decide, like a 6th grade bully, which of her physical characteristics to make fun of. Then he would have told some lie about her, and then he would have tried to use the whole process to fleece some more money from his supporters.

a Seal team kick in the orange one's front door and arrest him on terrorism charges and whisk him away to a dark site. If people scream too loud, bring him back and say. "Hey, it was a joke."

Or when calling Afghanistan a disaster either, etc. Or maybe I don't get the humor there.

When I searched for more info about this story, I see she's been more critical of Biden than some squad members. But doesn't catch heat for it like they do. It seems a double standard, but it just depends on one's pov.

I don't like when dems bad mouth the administration to reporters or in public, whether from progressive, centrist or blue dog. It creates or maintains a feedback loop of dissatisfaction. I support dems at all levels and think we're at our best when we pull together behind an agreed-upon agenda. Right now the Biden agenda is the operative one that needs the most support.

And yes, Joe has a great sense of humor. And he was right to not blast her or something. That's a part of his core personality, and I love that about him. Joe, Kamala and others are drawing fire all the time with poisonous lies. That splatters all dems, and they need our support.

Edit to add -- I listened carefully to now President Biden when he was running, and the general Build Back Better outline IS a lot like wanting him to be a bit FDR-like in scope. I voted for that emphatically.
