15 more states look to add equal access (sports open to home schoolers)

Of the 24 states supporting Equal Access, all rank ahead of Alabama except one. Alabama public schools dropped this year from 47th to 48th in the Nation. New Mexico is the only Equal Access state that ranks lower, and Equal Access was just added there recently. Top ranked schools are known for being open-minded and thinking outside the box.

We believe it is time for Alabama to think outside the box in this area and others, and start doing everything they can to improve their schools and school-community relationships.

15 states are currently proposing legislation for equal access!!!

Alabama - "Tim Tebow Bill"
Arkansas - "Tim Tebow Bill"
Georgia
Hawaii
Kentucky - "Tebow Bill"
Louisiana
Maryland
Mississippi
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Texas
Tennessee

Homeschoolers pay taxes that support those schools. They should be able to participate in the extra-curricular activities!

edit to add: I hate Tim Tebow. And just a reminder folks - not all hs's are rightwing nutcase fundies. There is a very large and growing contingent of secular &/or LIBERAL hs'ers!!

I formerly (erroneously) believed that only religiously insane right wing nutjobs home schooled their children.

Though I cannot imagine doing so myself ... I now understood that there is a multitude of reasons parents may choose to home school (many valid and in the best interest of their child) ... these parents pay taxes that support the public school (as do the parents that send their children to public school), I see no reason they shouldn't be able to utilize some services and facilities.
