Like his Super PAC, he's trying to point out the absurdities of the American political process through his character. It should be fun to watch, and no doubt he'll get a lot of press for this.

I'm guessing he'll run as a Republican, considering he's got 5% in South Carolina and the Democratic primaries are obviously less newsworthy, I guess, right now.

Since some conservatives don't get that the Colbert Show is a parody he might get some actual (though small) RW support.
