Discord on DU
over the speed of the DOJ prosecution plays right into the hands of the GOP.Time better spent elsewhere.
We should be promoting our mid-term candidates and denigrating their GOP challengers. There's tons of GOP misdeeds to publicize, get out there folks and help drum up enough outrage to GOTV!!!

2. Discord on DU has no impact on politics in the real world...
Those who are actively engaged in elections and advocacy will continue to do so. Those who limit their activity to blog posts will continue to…not.

8. IMO, every blog post, every phone call, every vote, every donation, every hour of "politicking"
contributes to the emerging national "emotional valence" that condemns Trump, fascism, and criminality in politics.
Sometimes, blog posts are all some people can do to contribute in an active, constructive manner. |

3. Democrats aren't cloned like Republicans.
Having vigorous debates within the Democratic party is what makes us a better party.
I don't see a problem with one side claiming that DOJ is acting behind the scenes. I am not at all upset or offended that those people have that opinion, as a matter of fact, I hope they are right and I am wrong. I have already agreed to eat crow with a side of possum if I am wrong. |

It's tough signing on to DU and being confused over our scolding

6. IMO, criticism about the DOJ is fair game.
The agency SHOULD feel pressure to prosecute. AND they should maintain their integrity by insisting on confidentiality. It's all in the game.
It's the naysaying that is difficult to tolerate for the reason that you stated. Predicting that "nothing will happen" is counterproductive. Predicting that Trumpy-Boy will get away scot-free is counterproductive. Pressuring the DOJ to act and to be transparent when the time is right, IMO, is okay. |

If not, come next November trump will still be walking free and odds will be high of losing at polls.

17. "preventing the next Nazi Regime."
Denigrating the work of the DOJ will not help. DOJ prosecutions are methodically working up from the bottom, collecting evidence as they go. Foot soldiers turn on sergeants ,who turn on captains who turn on generals. It takes time to be done right and not allow cases to be thrown out on technicalities or procedural missteps.

And not denigrate the one you are asking…
The hyperbolic response, like yours, is what is creating discord. Not the ask. |

11. Just a thought about the DOJ
Perhaps the commission isn't giving everything to the DOJ yet BECAUSE there are still Trump/Republican moles in the DOJ that may leak things to TFG or the media.
That seemed to be a problem with the Mueller Investigation. Remember, they project and when they talk about the Deep State, it's all about embedding their sycophants into the Civil Service, and you can bet that TFG did it in his 4 years. |

19. You know what plays into the hands of the GOP? Letting them get away with it.
Letting them stall the investigation & run out the clock. Judges giving lighter sentences to insurrectionists than to BLM protestors. Sham "fraudits" being conducted by private entities with only stern letters of warning issued by the DOJ, in spite of clear election laws being violated. That plays more into the hands of the GOP than any hand-wringing here on DU.
This is a discussion board. People are alarmed & worried about the direction the country is headed, & not everyone has people in their real life that they can discuss issues like this with. And just because we're on a discussion board doesn't mean we don't GOTV. I manage to do both, along with a slew of other things in my life. And often what I've read on DU is helpful when I'm making calls to voters. |

22. We do not need absolute conformity of opinion
I am perpetually taken aback by demands for that here. Getting behind our candidates in election season and putting bitter primary disputes behind us is one thing and in this regard there is strength in unity, but insisting that everyone agree on myriad of issues is just ridiculous and it isn't going to happen especially among liberal minded people who are more likely to reject dogmatic assertions of right and wrong or truth.

31. GOTV, while important, is actually less important that voter protection and DOJ prosecutions
GOTV is necessary, but far from sufficient, to counter Republican moves to suppress voting and to outright override the will of voters.
A much larger benefit to save our imperiled Democracy will accrue from passing voter protection, and by revealing Republican corruption to the public in a way that only prosecutions and convictions of major Republican players can achieve. |
