Break up BBB?
I think Biden might have to break up Build Back Better into its components. It might be better to pass the more popular individual pieces of legislature. Just a thought.

1. It won't work...
Break it up, and each measure can be filibustered.

2. Right now, the republicans
would filibuster anything they tried to pass. They would filibuster a cure for cancer.

3. A breakup takes reconciliati0on off the table. No 10 GQPeers will help. So no. Can't break it up.
All we can do is shrink it to where King JoeMansion will deign to support it.

4. Whatever of BBB doesn't pass, make it a month long ad for that issue. July could be pre-k month
with all Democrats talking about what it is. August could be child tax credit month. And on and on till the midterms. Then start it again if Democrats don't win. This should be the Democrats permanent platform.

5. There was talk of this approach last summer when it was clear there could be BIF but no chanceof BBB
Some sticking points of the bill may have to be voted on sepearatly.
However it gets passed. |

6. Wouldn't it be more expeditious to just set aside the unpopular parts?
Less work and a more comprehensive bill left to work with.

7. Break it up, vote on each popular part
Make the republicans vote against it. Repackage it, pass it with democratic votes reminding the country that the republicans voted against it, run the mid terms on passing it.

8. Which opposite strategy is preferable ?
1) Speaker Pelosi, who won't let anything come up for a vote unless it is guaranteed to pass ?
2) Majority leader Schumer who has said he wants to bring up bills for votes, knowing they are certain to fail, in order to get Republicans on the record as voting against it ? |
