Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested that Democrats who move to red states should get a 'cooling off period' before being allowed to vote
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Democrats moving to red states should be temporarily barred from voting.
Florida and Texas have received by far the largest influx of new residents relocating from other states.
Greene also once again discussed a "national divorce," where blue and red states split.
On Wednesday, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene advocated that people moving from Democratic-leaning states to Republican-leaning states should be temporarily barred from voting.
The congresswoman tweeted that "brainwashed people" moving from California and New York "really need a cooling off period."

I'll bet the voters in her district are immensely proud of her for representing them so completely.

(11,726 posts)Her seat is in a pretty safe district so unfortunately the voters in her district seem to approve.
It is certainly not understandable or acceptable to anyone with any shred of humanity, intelligence, or understanding of how government works, but then again politicians in red states seem to pick their voters and not the other way around.

(9,959 posts)And its working. I suspect the toxic workplace that she and her cohorts have created in the House has led some Democrats not to run for reelection. If or when Republicans like her take over the House majority, they will pass laws outlawing liberalism, science, and any other silly stupid things they can think to do. What a waste of air.

(46,782 posts)To prevent Dems for running for office. Putting them in harm's way over and over is frightening.
Yes once in permanent power, the GOP leaders will throw their base red meat. Of course the leaders could care less about these issues you mention. Their only interest is permanent power and wealth.

And despite the anger towards Manchin- without him, Mitch would be the majority leader. I expect the government would have been shut down multiple times, the debt ceiling breached and no judges confirmed. Biden has been confirming lower court justices at a record pace.

I swear, every time I tell myself that I am not as cruel, or heartless as these ignorant fucksticks, they propose something like this and drag me right down in the mud with them.
Makes me think that there were probably a lot of people before the Civil War that argued kicking the shit out of the Confederate states would inflict pain on the innocent people in those states.
God help us all if the MTG's of the world ever get in power...
Or, nevermind, that already happened in 2016.
We better realize something quick.
Unless and until there is economic hardship inflicted upon the corporations and businesses in states that fund this shit, it will never stop
Sometimes you think that reason and morality will be enough to bring about change, but you realize that the only thing that will truly bring about change is a national General Strike or a Civil War.
These people...the ones who vote for MTG and the corporations that fund her would happily slit our throats while we sleep
You may dismiss her bullshit as "cute", or "amusing", but 10s of millions of your neighbors have been hearing the exact same shit she is proposing on thousands of hate radio stations 24/7 for the past 40 years.

Very interesting dynamic. She doesn't understand that having a particular ideology itself isn't a sign of brainwashing-- it's only when you are unable to question your own biases as having a basis in fact and science, that brainwashing can occur and be identified as such. Not that any ideology should disqualify one from voting.

Most states also restrict voting for currently incarcerated felons and for those legally declared mentally incompetent.
So it should be legal for Empty to be barred from voting for being "Mentally Incompetent" ?

(10,302 posts)If DC applies this rule, and Congress follows this rule too... then all Congressional Representatives from Red States need a cooling off period before casting any votes while in the District of Columbia. I think a two year cooling off period works fine. Unsure about purple states though.
