In a quandry

I substitute taught a first grade yesterday.

One girl had a medical exemption from wearing a mask.

I asked the school nurse how I was supposed to protect her from her classmates and didn't receive a comprehensive answer.

Like all children, this girl liked to socialize in the classroom with her classmates, most of whom had their masks under their noses, if not under their chins. What I mean is that the children literally cluster together.

It's a losing battle.

I know, I know. The parents of the girl have assumed the risk, but as a teacher, I feel responsible to do what I can to protect all children regardless of the improvidence of their parents.

Would be in your area of control, wouldn't it? Just keep her 6 feet away from everyone else while she is under your protection. That may be the only safety you can offer
