Bikers & Bars Take on Police in Court
LAS VEGAS (CN) - Police illegally threaten to shut down bars that serve members of the Vagos biker club, a coalition of bikers and a nightclub claim in Clark County Court.
The Southern Nevada Coalition of Clubs says Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department served a letter to co-plaintiff Scoundrel's Bar last summer, threatening "disciplinary action" if it continued to do business with the Vagos or any other club in the coalition.
A similar letter was delivered to "multiple businesses" holding liquor, bar, tavern or banquet licenses, according to the complaint.
The Vagos club is considered an outlaw motorcycle gang by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the California Attorney General. Vago is Spanish for "bum."
Plaintiffs say their 1st and 14th Constitutional Amendments were violated when police sent the threatening letters.

The cops are just trying to help. Those poor bikers don't really want to be bikers. They were picked on as kids/etc and society has forced them into the role of tough guys (and look at all the movies about bikers and how they are portrayed - we expect them to be violent, wear leather, and have tough sounding names and beards).
We need to educate them, shave em, get them some suits, cars instead of bikes (throw back to being a kid, they could only ride bikes as a kid, they need their moms), and put them into 'real men' jobs like sales, management, etc. Trust me, I know bikers, they will be happier and thankful.
So when you see one in a bar explain this to them (and if you see one smoking in a bar, call 911, cause all smokers are really sad and uneducated but together, with Jesus, we can save them from doing things we don't approve of).

The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)My friend was in a band playing there, I showed up wearing a white suit jacket, tie, etc, thinking it was some other bar.
It felt...awkward.

(3,310 posts)Long, long ago before "1%" got attached to the megarich, outlaw bikers called themselves 1%-ers.
I think it's rather humorous that "1%" is now attached to the megarich. Then again, if you've seen one outlaw, you've seen them all. Money doesn't bring class, couth, or morals.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,365 posts)The term supposedly originated back in the late 1940's after the famous Hollister riot when a spokesman for the American Motorcycle Association said that 99% of motorcyclist were law abiding citizens but that last 1% was giving the rest a bad name (though the AMA denies any spokesman ever made the statement).
Thus many motorcycle clubs embraced the 1%'r concept as a way of showing contempt for the AMA.

(8,994 posts)If they think the Vagos are an outlaw motorcyle gang then step to it. Take a shit or get off the pot.
I'd be interested in contributing money to these guys' legal defense.
