The Russian people, who like the Trump voters, cannot recognize obvious propaganda.

It is being reported most Russians don't believe what is happening in Ukraine. They are being told something else. You would think they would notice Putin has shut down all news media except state run new media. That is a gigantic fucking clue you are being lied too and they can't figure out?

This is the mystery of propaganda. Put 10 people in a room and tell them a silly foolish lie, conspiracy. 5 will laugh out loud because the lie is so stupid. The other 5 will yell out in anger because they believe the lie with all their heart and soul.

And Americans haven't been living in a bubble since birth like Russians have. So at least they had a fighting chance to understand both sides. Older generation Russians are indoctrinated from birth. The younger citizens of that country were learning much through social media, but that's all being cut off.

And I think people, particularly young people, forget how the Soviet union brainwashed its citizens for 50 years. It seems like when I was younger in the 50s and 60s we were taught to recognize Russian propaganda. Now half of our journalists are just repeating it

of at least a degree of press freedom. Younger generations of Russians have had widespread access to internet until very recently.

Old time Soviets learned to be skeptical of their propaganda.

I'm not buying the excuses.

American RWers live in bubbles of their own choosing, and I'm not buying those excuses either.

... rest of the world to news sources like CNNi for instance.

They have the cognitive bias called "anchor bias" and believe mostly what they hear the first time from a credible source.

You can see this in the No Fly Zone talk when tactically its not airplanes that are causing the most damage in UKR its artillery where low flying airplanes wouldn't be effective cause RA AA.

But people will repeat this wrong language because they heard it from credible sources that it'll work.

Is there any difference between Russian talking points and most extremist talking points? It is most prominent on the right, but you also have Jill Stein on the left.

It's like they're tied at the hip with their news stories or the slants they put on them.

I would not be shocked or surprised if FAUX News was CLOSELY tied to Russia and China

and/or people who they don't think have an incentive to lie.

It seems the modern strategy of those who spread propaganda is to indoctrinate "influencers" who have millions of followers--politicians, radio show hosts, TV show hosts, actors, athletes, etc. Those influencers, who are trusted by millions, then become a major source of propaganda/misinformation. Their followers then get caught up in the same loop of disinformation that is continuously reinforced through social media. By the time their opinions are fully formed (based on the disinformation), it's too late to get through to them.

In my opinion, the only thing we can do is become better than them at brainwashing.
