Kansas GOP House Speaker ‘Prays’ That Obama’s ‘Children Be Fatherless And His Wife A Widow’

Kansas GOP House Speaker ‘Prays’ That Obama’s ‘Children Be Fatherless And His Wife A Widow’
By Marie Diamond on Jan 13, 2012 at 12:00 pm

ThinkProgress reported last week that Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal (R) was forced to apologize to First Lady Michelle Obama after forwarding an email to fellow lawmakers that called her “Mrs. YoMama” and compared her to the Grinch.

Earlier that same week, the Lawrence Journal-World was sent another email that O’Neal had forwarded to House Republicans that referred to President Obama and a Bible verse that says “Let his days be few” and calls for his children to be without a father and his wife to be widowed.
Nick Sementelli at Faith in Public Life notes that Psalm 109, which is a prayer for the death of a leader, became a popular conservative meme after Obama’s election. The “tongue-in-cheek” prayer for the president was seen on bumper stickers. The relevant part of the psalm reads:

Let his days be few; and let another take his office
May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes.
May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.

When you hear the things republicans say and believe, how can you possibly avoid noticing that they're crazy as a box of Froot Loops and dead set against every single thing that makes America great?

Clearly, republicans hate America as it now exists, with our religious tolerance, regulation of predatory businesses, etc. If they hate it so much, why don't they just leave? Somalia has no government at all, that should be right-wing heaven!

When we were protesting the idiotic Vietnam war, we often heard "Love it or leave it!" from the bloodthirsty lunatics on the right. Shouldn't this apply to today's America-hating conservatives just as well?

Luke 12:51
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Luke 22:36

The Parable of Ten Minas...

11 While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once. 12 He said: “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas.[a] ‘Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I come back.’
14 “But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’

15 “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.

16 “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more.’

17 “‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’

18 “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’

19 “His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’

20 “Then another servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. 21 I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’

22 “His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’

24 “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’

25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’

26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’”

It is one of Jesus' parables.

The "Master" is supposed to represent God.

So God (who in Christian theology is also Jesus) is saying: 26 He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’

This is a direct incitement to kill those who do not accept God as their Master.

Here's my analysis of Psalm 109

1: a simple request for God to take vengeance.
2: Naming those who the prayer is aimed at "deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue."
3 - 5: self justification.
6 - 19: saying how God should punish the accused.
20: identifying the targets of this curse as first, "Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD," and second those who, "speak evil against my soul."
21 - 26: excuses why the one praying cannot act.
27 - 29: more things that should happen to the accursed.
30: what God gets in return
31: A sample of the reward God gets.

You will find the whole thing, minus my analysis at Skeptics Annotated Bible

72. What is unfortunate is that there isn't any hell or heaven. This is it.

I find that the hope that some person will be held accountable for their evilness after death allows these people to spread their vileness without proper retribution in this life. Indeed, religion is the opiate of the masses of the poor and depressed who are allowing themselves to be exploited while suffering in silence. They can only achieve justice when they rise up and overthrow their oppressors and not place their faith in some after life retribution. The oppressed only allow their evil tormentors the opportunity to laugh at their stupidity.

I understand the right to free speech, but threatening someone's life? Wishing ill on others? Come on. The right is losing it big time. They can't deal with the current class clowns, and know they can't beat Obama in November. However, this is a new low for them. I think the Secret service should interrogate this idiot for a couple of weeks in detention. Maybe, maybe he'll think twice before opening his mouth and spewing such ignorance again. The far right are such idiots. They amaze me (in a bad way) every day!!!

Just creating a tax shelter for their divisive rants only encourages them. Not to mention giving them citizen-subsidized coffers from which to purchase politicians and skew public discourse.

87. What a sick "prayer"!!!

"May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow." That's just disgusting. I'm the farthest thing from being an Obama fan, but this so called prayer is beyond contempt. That a House Speaker should behave thus is repugnant. He should be asked to resign his post.

I agree with Beacool 100%

I also think that sadly, very sadly, they would be doing this same (censored) to Hillary if she got in. That is not a slam on Hillary, au contraire, it means that she and Obama would both tick off the worst elements of this country, which is why they are both better than ANY GOP.

See this guy...he got us out of Iraq, fuck you Mike.
