Judge delays Edwards trial due to heart condition

Judge delays Edwards trial due to heart condition

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A judge revealed Friday that she has been dealing with John Edwards' cardiologist regarding his request to delay a trial due to medical reasons.

That judge delayed the former presidential candidate's trial until at least March 26. The judge said she had two letters from cardiologists verifying Edwards' condition.

Edwards, 58, is expected to have a procedure in February, which could be potentially serious if left untreated.

Lawyers said Edwards' condition would make it difficult to attend the trial if it began as scheduled Jan. 30. They requested a delay of at least two months.

Some don gets nabbed and, lo and behold, he suddenly develops an illness that forces a trial postponement.

And, if he gets convicted, he goes to a hospital instead of prison.
