Children Be Fatherless And His Wife A Widow
"You might be surprised to hear that Mike O'Neal, the Republican Speaker of the Kansas State House, is praying for President Obama.
Unfortunately, he's praying for the President's death. And he's exploiting the Bible to do so, circulating an email that quotes Psalm 109: "May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow."
Sadly, it's not unusual for Republican politicians to use hate-filled rhetoric when speaking about President Obama. But when they exploit religion to do so, people of faith have a moral responsibility to condemn it.
That's why I just signed Faithful America's petition calling for Speaker O'Neal to resign.

(67,088 posts)guy is an elected official and he's unfit for office. Just because he's a state gov. official, doesn't mean he's not potentially dangerous. To me, he's soliciting action and it's dangerous.

(78 posts)This is a political move, and you're taking the hook.
First, unless you live in Kansas, I don't think your opinion on their state legislature carries any water.
Second, Kansas is one of the most red states in the country, why in the world would you want to help paint Mike O'Neil as Mr. GOP? Him praying for Obama dying isn't exactly going to bother most people from Kansas.
Remember, this is the home state of the Westboro Baptist Church...the wackjobs who protest military funerals with "God hates fags" signs. He might represent the extreme of Kansas, but the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
You're helping him win re-election by being the anti-Obama. Don't help him. Knowing that liberals want him out of office is going to rally his base.

(13,570 posts)Remember, Kathleen Sebelius was from Kansas. I once lived there. There are plenty of very reasonable people in Kansas, including plenty of conservatives too for whom this kind of rhetoric simply crosses the line of basic descency. Even in red states there are standards. Attacking this guy NATIONALLY on this brings light to extremism in the Republican Party and shame to that party in general and puts them on defense. And it pounds on this guy NATIONALLY and brings him to shame. It is good to attack this horrid freak on this, and we should ALWAYS be attacking these nuts good and damn hard. Enough of the wimpiness in the Democratic Party. FIGHT !
