The pundits on MSNBC were saying that McCarthy couldn't lead the Republicans after being caught in such a flagrant lie. Maybe the Republicans scapegoat him in a mock display of conscience, but maybe not. When Trump doubled down on his lies, the same Republicans trampled each other in the rush to fall into line. McCarthy just established serious liar cred.
