Even if the Russians are kicked out of Ukraine, how do they get all these hostages out?

(50,773 posts)Where are they? What is happening to them? This is a country that proudly uses rape as a weapon. These are soldiers who brag about torturing toddlers.
What are they doing to that million people?

(26,548 posts)I'm guessing that in Putin's new world order it will be acceptable for stronger countries to kidnap people from weaker countries to keep as slaves.

(32,975 posts)I didn't say it was acceptable. It's a war crime.

(32,975 posts)That's the people that Putin is so concerned about. The Yanukovitch voting areas.
So concerned that he's destroying their cities, their towns, their homes, killing or deporting them to the Far East?

(11,032 posts)Russia wants Ukraine without Ukrainians. These people will never been seen again.
There is no disincentive to Putin for engaging in genocide. In the best possible outcome, Ukraine will drive Russia from Ukraine. Ukraine cannot invade Russia to either free its citizens or bring war criminals to justice. Similarly, NATO will never invade Russia. The worst possible outcome is that Russia will kill enough Ukrainians that there is no one left to fight.
NATO could have stopped this when it was clear that genocide was always part of the plan. Maybe the lesson will have been learned when Putin invades Moldova.

(26,548 posts)I pretty much had that figured out within a couple of days of the invasion.
If they succeed it will be to our own eternal shame.
