It seems to me that Putin may have an unlimited supply of fighters, incompetent as they may be. We know that, to Putin, human beings are fungible. Putin's choices are limited... it's either to throw more bodies into this war or nukes. Your thoughts?

(16,780 posts)So did Xerxes underestimate the the tenacity of the Spartans when millions of Persians descended upon them. That action united a Free Greece to eventually defeat the Persians. But then, Putin does not read History of any kind.

(12,223 posts)in training across the country as well as parts of the world, soldiers learning weaponry and combat training which are supposed to be ready in a matter of weeks.

(14,072 posts)... supplied. I'm not sure if Russia has solved its existing logistical problem. Throwing 300,000 more troops into Ukraine would seem to compound it.
I also wonder how difficult it would be for Russia to integrate these raw(?) troops with the existing troops in the field. I think most militaries could accomplish this fairly easily; but the Russian military appears to be extremely inefficient and poorly trained.

(7,627 posts)So, adding more soldiers in the battlefield will only increase the logistical issues. It has been reported that the sanctions already are having the effect that some critical components needed to build weapons are not available anymore for Russia. They lost the equivalent of two years of tank production on the battlefield, are running out of precision guided missiles as well as other things.
