My response is always that they can do their job or get fired and if any cop tells you it's not their job you need to report them and not just to their supervisor but also to your local representatives. As for the cops in the parking lot, they were seriously outgunned and they knew it, so they broke windows and tried to get kids to safety. It didn't work, but their instincts were sound. That's unfair.

Remember, start to finish, this thing was over in minutes. The kid had 2 weapons of mass murder on him and I don't know of anything outside of sci fi that would have stopped him.
