sucked it up and accepted it. He looks very uncomfortable and I do not think him to be a stupid man--immoral as hell, yes, but not stupid.

This only underscores the ignorance of a significant percentage of our population and why our public schools are at risk. RW can only succeed by continuing to dumb down the populace and instill fear/hate.

The NRA used to be for sportsmen, hunters and gun safety.

Now it has become an industry owned shill for the sale of more guns and the enrichment of its leaders.

The NRA board re-elected LaPierre yesterday by a count of 54-1. And the surprising part about that is there's one person in the mix who might be of sound mind!!!

I thought that he looked totally confused throughout the entire speech. Looked like he was trying really hard to figure it out, but just couldn't quite get a handle on the point of it all.

Small minds. The NRA perfected the threat of primary opposition to congress candidates 25 years ago. Now with gerrymandering ruling the landscape, primaries are the election in most places.

I think many in the audience got it, via the weak applause at the end.

They couldn’t shout him down, because, he was just stating their fucked up platform boiler plate response to every single horrible shooting

At least for me...the smattering of applause at the end from those so dim that they thought the speaker was sincere.

Sometimes, it was a little over the top, but mostly, it was genius. I well remember his performance at the WHC's Dinner that took him from being a fairly obscure cable TV personality to a big time star. He just EXPLODED after that night.

That is an absolute scream; I was laughing so hard, especially at how sincere the speaker was.

Being a teacher of interpersonal communication (and public speaking) , I was watching the faces and other physical reactions of the "crowd" (wow, was that sparse) and saw little to nothing, which indicates that other posters on this thread are right--they just didn't get it.

The speaker scored his major points when he listed all the shootings and how LaPierre offered thoughts and prayers on every one of them.

But I really laughed when at the end he said we just needed to "pray" harder, and "think" harder.

Now as far as LaPierre's body language was concerned, he absolutely knew he was being pranked but the speaker had him in a chokehold because if LaPierre demanded he stop, then the attendees would know he was being had.

This is a communications coup!

Bravo for the speaker!

You can see it in his body language.

I am sure he was imaging sending the security brutes to drag the man out, but he knew better.

Unfortunately, it was over the heads of a number of those in the audience. WHO ACTUALLY CLAPPED!

Maybe this proves that the MEGA,ULTRA MAGA types who worship at the gun altar (among other altars) can only hear what they want to hear, who really believe that thoughts and prayers is an appropriate response to mass murder, and that like themselves Wayne LaPierre is another aggrieved, unfairly attacked white guy who is selflessly protecting their right to buy weapons of mass destruction.

Or maybe they're just soulless fucks.

I'll go with the latter.
