"Drag queen" is way more colorful.
But shhh, don't tell him. Let them waste their time.

(9,073 posts)It's that famous Lyndon Johnson story. Johnson wanted to spread rumors that a political opponent was having sex with animals. An adviser said they couldn't prove that. Johnson replied:
"I know that. I just want to hear him deny it."
It's a neat psychological trick. Oftentimes you can make someone look very guilty when they're in the midst of denying something.

Rufo's tweet in your OP isn't something a genius mind would make, comparable to an AI that can formulate a billion decisions at once as well as their consequences, he isn't guided by angels, it's him whipping up a moral panic. It will whip up the people susceptible to moral panics, the people who believed there were tunnels under the McMartin school or the people who thought the pizzeria had a sex basement.
Now I can say "Why does he want to sexualize everything" and we can ask that, we can point out this is a moral panic... but it will get shot down.

(36,783 posts)But don't drag queens specialize in putting on clothes and parading, not taking them off?

(32,080 posts)They also go through a lot to put on those clothes. They're not going to go through all that just to strip them off. I can't imagine there's much of an audience for watching someone strip off their falsies and other padding, either.

(2,840 posts)The amount and egregiousness of his racist and fascist lies and propaganda has to be criminal in some way. The FBI can be creative in that way when they want to be.

(21,751 posts)I believe the Republican Party took a major turn towards fanaticism when Newt Gingrich and Frank Luntz organized the Party around divisive language and trigger words. They sent out memos with lists of words and phrases to use, and the whole Party went permanently "on message".

(1,962 posts)That's one way it won't work - if we drown out their stupidity by being louder than them when it comes to standing for human rights, equality, decency, compassion, fairness....
We don't have a culture war anymore, though... if we ever did. It's now turning into a war, and incels like Rufo want blood in the streets. The "party" that loves to whine about "being canceled" are actively trying to get LGBTQ lives canceled. Violently and permanently. They don't want us to go back in the closet... they want us 6 feet under.
