the fact that the J6 Committee has presented us with a whole lotta facts about the attempted coup on our Government.
The timing of this abysmal SC decision is suspicious. All of our outrage is now centered on the SC. But, we must look not to the left nor the right, but straight ahead in convicting those responsible for the attempted coup. From there, after cleaning out the pus, we can revisit the issues of what horrendous decision making this Court is doing.
They will continue to quickly decide other various issues of which we will not be happy. Still, we have to convict Trump et al, otherwise none of it can be defensible. We need to get rid of the influence the GOP currently has against us.
I will not let civil rights just go to the influence of these other dastardly groups who only care about themselves and their own weak, narrow opinions. However, we need to indict and arrest Trump. If we want to "get even" for this SC decision on guns and abortion, then, focus on getting Trump et al.

(25,457 posts)They generally try to wrap things up by the end of June. We've known for some time that this week was going to be bombshell week.
They also generally save the most impactful cases for last.
Here's an article explaining the expectations, timing, etc.:

(6,509 posts)Something which hasn't happened before? You need to look deeper than second layer. Trump is a master at deception. Not for nothing did he stack the Court.
His culpability is third and fourth layer away. It is what he was taught by his mentor, and he is very good at it. That is why we have to be very careful at collecting facts and presenting them to the public so full understanding can be appreciated.
I object to your calling anyone who didn't get it a "fool." Very harsh language to nonpolitical people who just want to live their lives free from tyranny.

(11,005 posts)Doesn't change the fact that it's true. I knew this was going to happen in 2016. It was obvious to anyone with two eyes and a brain.
Kind of like the Pollyannas in 2020 who kept insisting that McConnell NEVER would try to force through RBG's replacement because of 2016.
Everyone who didn't vote for Hillary has this on their conscience. And they can shut the fuck up with their complaints about the results. If it isn't what they wanted, they just didn't care about it.
EndlessWire
(6,509 posts)Well, I know Hillary can, and she is still my President.
Doesn't change the fact that we have to fight like hell to convict Trump et al of criminal charges for the coup. Nothing like a good distraction to fade away the importance of this.
Will you fight for gay rights? Or, the right to marry the person of your choice? Or, anyone's right to peaceful assembly without the fear of getting shot by some ignorant asshole who thinks a gun is a solution for their own inadequacies? I want to see you back here for that, without calling people fools. The only fools are now those that participated in the attempted coup, all of Trump's fans, and some SC Justices. Their day will come.
Have a nice day.

(11,005 posts)Hillary isn't president. She never was president. Pretending she is doesn't solve the situation.
Now rather than accusing people who voted for Democrats of not supporting the rights they voted to defend, maybe direct your ire towards the people that didn't listen, didn't vote and are responsible for the mess we're in.
EndlessWire
(6,509 posts)Too angry to really read. You have put words in my mouth that were never said. Most people who state that Hillary is my President obviously KNOW that she is not in reality. Your snark is not appreciated. Most people get it.
I also never accused anyone who voted for Dems of not supporting the rights they voted to defend. This is in the past. In the future, since you are so good at predicting it, we will face the demise of SC decisions that will ultimately take away the civil rights of millions of citizens, such as just happened. That is because of this SC, who is biased RW and insidiously suppressing of civil rights. That is not their function, but they just made it their business.
I don't have "ire;" I have anger and determination to right the wrongs that are coming. But, I am not going to direct my anger at people who made mistakes at not voting for Hillary. I am past that point. Instead, I want everyone who thinks that Trumpian logic, influence and political views are shit to GOTV and get rid of this pox on America. If they don't believe in the creep of fascism in our country, then they need to vote in November. They can change all they stood for by voting every. last. Repub. out. of. office.
Your argument is interesting. First you say that you have "ire" against people who failed to vote for Hillary, and that everything is their fault. Then, you tell me that you have a secret, that Hillary isn't the President, as if I am not aware of that.
Well, I don't care about any of that. I will not let anyone, not even you, pull me off center in my support of indicting Trump et al for being seditious traitors. This is of paramount importance to this country.

(86,528 posts)And since they are now done until October they jumped the gun so to speak.
Since the hearings will continue, I think that this ploy, if it was that, to distract has failed miserably. Besides, the criminality of the J6 nightmare is tied to this new ruling in that the one justice is there illegally and the other two were placed under suspicious machinations.
Getting even has nothing to do with this, protecting ourselves from this type of weaponization of our rule of law and government in order to install an autocratic minority rule is what it's all about.
EndlessWire
(6,509 posts)but I don't think it has failed miserably. All our anger has shifted from Trump to the SC ruling.
But, your point about the criminality of the J6 coup attempt is interesting. I agree that the results of this SC opinion can be scrutinized in light of the fact that Ginni Thomas apparently participated in the coup attempt. I assume that the "suspicious machinations" you refer to are the LIES that the Justices told to Congress. What an elegant way to put it! Contempt of Congress charges should be forthcoming, but this can't happen until after Midterms.
