Yes, friends, you can reply to this.
I most strongly recommend safety glasses and safety shoes for post removal.

How many times have I thought up a really nice reply, but not fast enough to beat the gong.

Blamers, you get the gong, you're projecting.

We have strong leadership, just not charismatic leadership.

Do you know who finishes the job they started?

If you got enough energy to articulate your pessimism on an internet discussion board, convert that energy into doing something positive instead.

12. Messaging
Sat Jun 25, 2022, 09:29 PM

We need better messaging. And charismatic leaders to deliver it would help.

I often think of starting a brigade out here in L.A. of performers who could help spread the news and also pro bono coach our candidates how to make a splash as well as making logical sense. Think it would make a very big difference.

We have the right stances that help the most people.

Messaging. That is what we need. And your post is obviously a great example of eye-catching, thought and heart stimulating message.

I've been beating the messaging drum for a long time. The fundamental things don't change.

I've been posting some background to help people understand the long-term plan we are dealing with, but keeping the messaging necessarily short.

Here are some references. (copy and paste)

Chaos means weak government, and that means little or no regulation of oligarchs. Period.
It's exactly the Nazi Germany playbook

Normalize hate and violence.
Stochastic terrorism.
Bring down elected government.

IT CAN BE STOPPED.

THIS IS NOT 1938 GERMANY.

“Democracy in Crisis: We’ve Been Headed Here for Decades.” Part 1of 8
Read all 8 to get the "plan" in detail.
I strongly recommend doing so.

I have no idea what DNC is up to, other than a nice speech by Jaime Harrison calling out "Fraud, Fear and Fascism". Maybe they are waiting for some damning issue. But any such thing would only build on the base that I (modestly) proposed.

ALL HIGH VIZ HELP IS APPRECIATED.
I understand the "L.A." issue. Twitter cuts excellent celebrities down to size. Just the nature of the medium.

People like Steve Kerr, Steph, LeBron, and Pop are doing their part, but they aren't "glamorous".

Thanks for the reply.

Mitch McConnell has very low approvals among republicans but they still vote for him.

getting people to change?

not sure we exactly have time for that.

isn't that part of the charm of usonian's piece? eye-catching. drew us in. paid homage to a lineage of charismatic leaders who actually did cultivate meaningful social change. advocated for it in compelling ways. helped people respond to the better angels of their nature.

politicians - part of their job is to preach, to message. if they can't do that and in that way drum up support and votes, then I feel they are not doing their job.

I'm totally cool with people like you working to get out the vote. and i'm totally cool with people like me trying to get the message better and better-delivered so they feel like voting in the first place.

not an either/or in my point of view but more like a yes/and.

Thanks.

Yes, they inspired many but not most.

Also it was their horrible deaths which added to a certain affection for them.

24. beg to differ

Were you there? I was. I know what Robert Kennedy stood for and how he affected people. Yes, his loss was an immense loss to this country for generations. But he had a huge effect and there was a great affection for him and he was tough and he was Liberal.

I believe wholeheartedly in pragmatism. And in getting people out to vote.

But yeah, people need to be inspired to get out to vote. Or at least that's a very good thing. That's what I'm going to work on. You work on your thing.

We all need to work together, in ways that we believe in and in ways that we can.

And we need to quite sniping at each other but supporting each other to do what we feel like doing and what we can.

Did you see this?

John Kennedy was inspiring (OK, I'm originally from Massachusetts).
And his campaign had a cute song.
Bobby Kennedy was a dynamo, and Dr. King was electrifying. They inspired and empowered us.

Naturally, their losses were horrible, but we didn't just go in mourning for the next 30 years.

Theirs was, in my opinion, the SECOND emancipation in the U.S., and drew all the racist-fueled backlash we have seen since then from the RW.

Joe Biden has the potential, if we give him the support he needs, I call it "54 or more" (52's too few but might do), to reverse the reversal --- as a friend used to say a lot "activate the deactivator" -- and bring about the third emancipation.

Hearts and minds? Hardly. Just get enough people to get off the sewage truck (it really DOES stink) to win.
Hence the prods and "nudges" in my post. I studied cult behavior and addictive behaviors. Most have to hit rock bottom, but people not horribly deluded can break out based on a perceived betrayal, or contradiction that denial (a key behavior) just can't cover any more. There's a plan to the message.

Quote from Ibram X. Kendi. He "gets it."

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216524810

Oh here:
One paragraph fom the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.
Emphasis mine:

Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nations—the world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

DON'T KVETCH, KICK BUTT!. ... Guy Kawasaki.

Any time spent griping about things you and I can't control or influence takes away from things you CAN influence, namely ELECTIONS. That's the purpose of disinformation: to disempower you by focusing on people, and things you can't possibly control or even influence. And when that happens, they have won.

And yes, we all need to do whatever we are capable of doing and then some. Tossing as many GOPers as possible out of offices, local, state and federal, is what it's going to take.

I'm in. I'll do whatever I can and I'll send money to Dem candidates, doesn't matter what state. I don't care if it's only $10. Every little bit helps.
