Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsFor 4 years the Whitehouse was an insane asylum. We are lucky Trump didn't kill all of us.
We all heard the news reports while Trump was president. We knew, heard about the crazy shit happening in the Whitehouse. We knew Trump was out of his mind from the very beginning. Yesterday just gave us a better picture of what it was like.
What was really insane about the Trump era is all the people that blindly followed this fucking lunatic. Trump voters will become infamous for all time. History is going to brutal on them. They just don't know it yet.
The Republican Party will also pay a price. History is going to very unkind to The Republicans. The Trump era will not be forgotten and the people that lost their minds following a lunatic will not be forgotten.

(12,218 posts)a. pandemic
Farmer-Rick
(10,140 posts)He caused the pandemic because he pulled out all the resources America had set up with China to combat a deadly viral pathogen.
He then ignored it and minimized it for as long as he could. Then he encouraged his minions to disrupt public health measures.
America had the highest death rate in the world at numerous times throughout the years. Wave after wave after wave of deaths. Morgues and funeral homes filling up so quickly they had to bring in refrigerated semitrucks. Hospitals overflowing with no room for average illnesses.
Trump tried to murder as many Americans as possible with the pandemic then he tried to takeover our democracy and kill more Americans.
He really hates America.
Turned his back on the pandemic and over 1 million people died. And he said that the virus was not that bad.

Sheldon Whitehouse has earned a reputation in the Senate as a fierce advocate for progressive values and a thoughtful legislator capable of reaching across the aisle to achieve bipartisan solutions.

(5,387 posts)but more likely we are entering a prolonged period of dark ages, when only religious persons can read or write and trump will attain a legendary arthurian aura as a once and future president for life who brought baby formula and cheap oil to the world.

I have been saying from the beginning that Trump isn't stupid, he is mentally ill.

(17,317 posts)As others have touched on above, the tRump presidency may only be the beginning. If that's the case, Republicans will never suffer any consequences. As the saying goes, "History is written by the victors."
The only way to avoid such a fate is to GOTV!

(11,348 posts)I already thought that he is the most horrible, vile human being I have ever encountered. After yesterday's testimony it is clear that he is much, much worse than I had realized. How is that possible??

(2,590 posts)Note the tense: worked for. I didn't remain long in jobs when their psychological issues were untenable. I quit. I wouldn't allow unstable, narcissistic, disorganized, megalomaniacs to have any long term influence on my life.
There is absolutely no instance I would remain in a position with a cretin like TFG. None whatsoever. There is no resume burnishing enough that would make it worthwhile to me to be willing to subject myself to that kind of lunatic asylum behavior.

(1,309 posts)I started to believe that they had probably changed the nuclear codes, and I became more convinced with every year after that. They knew he was insane and hated this country and that it was likely he would use the nukes. Surely someone was smart enough to nip that in the bud.

(47,282 posts)Being president is a very complex, nuanced job and this fool was never actually doing it. He was watching TV, tweeting, holding rallies, throwing tantrums, and doing photo ops to satisfy his own vanity. He surrounded himself with the some of the most incompetent people on the planet, people who were looking to enrich themselves. Fortunately he couldn't replace everyone in just four years, but given another four years he would have destroyed everything.
Yes, as bad as it was, it is amazing it wasn't even worse.

(53,743 posts)narcissistic, incompetent megalomaniac who has never been denied anything, is put in charge of a hierarchy. He just indulged himself in things that he enjoyed doing for four years...golf, holding rallies, eating fast food, watching FOX, attacking Dems and lying to cover up his fuck ups.
Too bad, so sad.
Because of all those things, his time in the WH could not last. And he and his cabal stupidly attempted the J6 coup. If not for that, he could've just lived quietly like other former presidents, now his whole admin's activities after the Nov. election are under intense scrutiny and he's in much legal jeopardy.
