History shows us; In seemingly endless troubled times, one event, one decision, one mistake,

can change the course of history for the better.

We have been living through many years of troubled times. It seems like it will never end. It seems to be getting worse with each passing day. It has been sad, depressing, a hopelessness has set in.

The extremists of our country are becoming more extreme, they have gained great power, they have ripped our country to pieces. History tells us this will not stand forever. They will make a mistake, a decision, that will be their undoing. We may have witnessed this mistake, this decision recently. We have witnessed two major mistakes.

The decision to overturn Roe and the attempted coup. A major turning point in our history may be approaching, a turning point where the righteous defeat the extremists and set a better course for our country.

1. I hope you're right

I have a good feeling about Georgia. I think it can go blue in this election again.

2. I dunno about the optimism...

I think about the things that changed the course of history for this country, and I get discouraged.
Reagan's election was a turning point. For the worst.
Dubya's selection was a turning point. For the worst.
trump's election... disaster.

And those are just the elections.

The SCOTUS decisions this term... turning points for the worst.
The deification of guns... for the worst.
The rise of anti-science... anti-fact... for the worst.

I don't seem to be able to see the good side. When/how can things change?

3. The real problem is we have occasional temporary motivating events. But they gave sustained,

never ending structural forces on their side.

Endless money from billionaires and even foreign powers.

A heavily right-wing biased media. They will cover Dobbs but soon move on to other stories, while they stretch idiotic stories like Hillary's emails like it's the only thing that matters for years.

It's really hard to compete against that.

4. God I hope so! I believe both of those events are huge and motivating, and could

reshuffle the deck for the better.

5. Country survived the worst

Civil war, both world wars, cold war. It can survive this as long as people are ready to fight it. We have to be Ukraine

7. You get it. Imagine the despair during the Great Depression.

How many people back then said America will never recover, It's the end of America. Then a guy in wheelchair shows up and became president.

6. The problem this time is climate change does not give us the luxury of time.

That clock is ticking. Nothing done and we will start to see food shortages in 10 years.

The midwest states, and southern states will start to have fires like the west coast.

Nature, and the laws of physics are operating on their own schedule.

8. My view on climate change is this.

The people of the world will not truly take on climate change until it kicks the shit out of them. Then they will take action. At some point it will become a matter of survival. Then we will change.

9. This could definitely be a turning point if . . .

Democratic voters and leadership grab the moment and use the overreach of SCOTUS and their Republican cheerleaders as a rallying cry.

I believe they will bc the implications of these recent rulings are anti-democratic and absolutely gag worthy.

The Roe decision has pissed off not only Dems but Indies and even Republican women. Thomas's list of things to be 'reconsidered' should scare everyone. Our right to privacy has been stripped, and now you have GOP officials actually defending the idea of children forced to give birth in incidents of rape and incest. Because all life matters, they say. Just not the lives of little girls or females of any age.

The rulings on guns threaten everyone, our children included as exemplified in the most recent school massacre in Uvalde. Limiting the EPA's reach threatens the planet itself. Rick Scott has already outlined his nightmare for America: defunding Social Security and privatizing Medicare along with policies the 1%ers will love.

Wake Up Seniors! The jackboots are coming for you, too.

Next SCOTUS term will be looking to give state legislators the ability to muck around in our Federal elections.

The extremist wing of the GOP (the majority) is going for the whole enchilada--transform the country into a illiberal, theocratic state, a fake democracy in the shape of Orban's Hungary.

President Biden and our leadership need to be crystal clear: this is what we need to push back the tide of autocracy and hold the line. This is why we need x number of seats in the Senate and a push to save the House. This is what we will do with that positive outcome. I was very glad to hear POTUS declare he would immediately change the filibuster rules to get the job done and shore up our individual rights.

Bipartisanship is done, over, kaput. The enemy has revealed itself.

As Ukraine declared on Day1: No capitulation! No concessions!
