When they overturned Roe, they created tens of millions of pissed off Mama Grizzly Bears.
I shit you not, if you don't believe me, go out and talk to women you know and don't know. Women are going to vote this November in big numbers. Many men are also pissed off.

14. We have 3 teen grandsons to get to adulthood without fatherhood.
And a granddaughter entering puberty.
We felt for those of our friends who found themselves having to raise grandchildren before, while abortion was widely legal. Well, guess what? My guess is the proportion of this era's grandparents-on-the-hook who always believed they were against abortion will rise while it's illegal, as others continue to use medication and other abortion as needed. |

2. I hope to hell, yes. And ditch the pink, the silly knit hats and FIGHT for your RIGHTS with all
you've got. (and yes, I did march in the 2020 Women's March in response to Trump's illegitimate inauguration, but I thought the pink crocheted pussy hats were stupid then and I do NOW). But, fighting for our rights, damned right I will be out there for my generation and every other. Just expect an angry grizzly--wearing and seeing bull-fighter RED, not pink. (and not MAGAT)

3. Women need to vote in big numbers forever.
In the mean time abortion will be banned in many places and women will die as a result. I’m trying to be optimistic but I don’t see reproductive rights being restored in my lifetime. This is going to be a long damned road.

22. Montana Mama, I don't see restoration in my lifetime either...
Ideals I supported my entire life, rights I worked for my entire life, the arc of history that I saw bending toward progress, justice, equality — all being smashed. I am in mourning.
The Court gutted the Voting Rights Act several years ago, they opened the door to dark money, they declared the personhood of corporations. The groundwork was laid for what is happening to our voting rights in the present moment. As for this session in the SCOTUS, they appear to be ramming thru one poisonous decision after another, as fast as they can, before the summer recess. The Far Right in this country finally has the Supreme Court it has always wanted, and they all have a lifetime job. I am 74. Their decisions will outlive me. The question is, will they outlive my daughter as well? |

4. I resent the "mama grizzly bear" trope
We WOMEN are pissed off at our rights being stolen. We are not all procreators and that's kind of the point. We choose whether we want to be mothers.
I ever wanted children. I would have availed myself of an abortion had I become pregnant. I never needed one but I always knew I would do it if I got pregnant. I like sex; I never wanted to become a mother. There are lots of women like me. And now our uteruses belong to the government. And we're pissed off. |

26. I DID. "ANGRY" I get your point but you ought to be able to get mine. It is not merely
"mama" grizzlies thatl respond when threatened and that is exactly what is occurring to all the women of the US. Time to see the forest, for the trees. Many here have no children, yet we are all ANGRY.

23. Sisterhood is powerful, but by all means let's argue over well-meant ways of describing relationship
Did I offend because you don’t have a biological sister?
Does motherhood (“mama “ ) mean only the bearing and rearing of children? Or can it include any nurturing relationship? Does being compared to a powerful member of the animal kingdom offend you? When Women Who Run With The Wolves came out, I read it with considerable enjoyment, but found myself savaged by a young feminist scholar at the university where I worked, who took umbrage at any woman being compared to an animal. Oh well, we do agree that the High Court has gone rogue — solidarity forever. |

I'm just worried that the economy is a much bigger factor than Roe and people won't care as much come November.

15. Abortion is an economic issue
Can we get that message to everyone. It is health care. It darn well effects your bottom line. If they also ban contraceptives thats another issue. I can actually see insurance companies refusing to pay

16. I agree it is an economic issue but with a qualifier.
Last edited Fri Jul 1, 2022, 01:26 PM - Edit history (1) High gas and food prices are economic issues of today. Abortion is an economic issue of tomorrow.
People buy food and gas today; but women need to schedule an appointment a few days down the road for an abortion, provided they are pregnant in the first place. Long term the abortion decision has much more impact but it often does not have the same immediacy. |

25. Frame it around contraception, which is very much on the chopping block. Planning pregnancy...
… is 100% an economic decision. Children are extremely expensive.
