PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Northwest Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz introduced a bill Friday to prohibit the IRS from acquiring ammunition.
The bill entitled the "Disarm the IRS Act" would prohibit the IRS from acquiring, by purchase or otherwise, any ammunition.
Congressman Gaetz claims the IRS spent $725,000 on ammunition from March to June of this year. He criticizes the purchase by saying the IRS does not require ammunition and has no reason to purchase it.
Only the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS is permitted to carry guns and ammunition, according to federal law.

(8,329 posts)To give you an idea of the size, the often maligned US Capitol police have 1800 members of its department. They both train at the federal law enforcement training center in GA. I would hope if treasury is letting 2500 armed people roam around the country, they are mating sure that they qualify regularly, minimum of 2 but 4 is optimal times a year. With each qualification, there should be some open range time to ensure qualification. Muscle Memory, training and comfort with your weapon mean a lot if you are ever called on it to use it.

(22,356 posts)I mean none of these second amendment folks would ever greet a federal agent with a loaded firearm would they? Sovereign citizens never do such things.
Tax cheats NEVER run other criminal enterprises and "protect" themselves with the finest firearms available in our great country, right? They can just walk right up to a drug dealing operation bare handed and say, "Excuse me sir I believe you owe some taxes".
