We started feeling bad yesterday & tested positive.
I had the original strain back before I was eligible for a vaccine & that was bad, I didn't need hospitalization but it wiped me out for 4 months.
This strain isn't nearly as bad so far, more like a cold or flu.
Of course, this is after having the original COVID pre-vaccine, then 2 vaccines, plus a booster.

(3,244 posts)Although, it does seem much more mild, it takes a while for all the symptoms to go away. My husband still has a cough 3 weeks later.

(11,905 posts)Both our son and daughter live with us still and both tested positive 10 days and 8 days ago respectively. Son got away with a fever for 2 days, minor congestion/cough, and stuffy ears. Daughter said she had those plus not being able to taste/smell for a few days, and the most sore throat she ever remembers having. She said warm broth, tea, etc, felt the best on her throat rather than cold things.
We're all vaxed and boosted in our house. So far Mr Woodsy and myself have tested negative both using the Binax home test and PCR testing. Son is going on a cruise the end of August, so we'll possibly be replaying this in a few weeks

Some have improved, others not.
Had Omicron in Kenya in June. For me, was like a bad cold.
And trust I had PTSD about the whole thing

Ex Lurker
(3,811 posts)He's 86, with the typical medical issues of someone that age. He visited a friend last Friday, who unknowingly was positive. The friend only had a runny nose. My dad has it pretty bad. He felt symptoms Monday morning, Dr called in a prescription for antivirals. He felt worse Tuesday, bad cough and O2 level below 90. We took him to the ER last night, they checked him over, his lungs were clear so they sent him home with some more prescriptions and supplemental oxygen if needed. I think he feels a little better today. He got up and took a shower and has not been coughing as much. I hope he's on the upward trajectory now. Four family members have been around him, including my 83 year old mother. So far no one has had any symptoms, fingers crossed. All concerned are vaxxed and boosted.
