will freely admit that I have no business making important life-impacting decisions for others.
I guess that's why I am a Democrat.
ADDENDUM: What I had in mind by "important life-impacting decisions" were personal decisions like what religion we SHOULD practice or whether a pregnancy should be terminated. We all make decisions for our children or elderly relatives and some of us have jobs where our decisions impact others, but none of us should be insisting that our decisions are the only correct ones.
Succinctly, I just meant to suggest that "MYOB" is a pretty good philosophy and would cure a lot of our ills.

(14,944 posts)I think the Democrats can be a very powerful force for good.
We tend to listen to multiple viewpoints and try to figure out the right course. That makes us seem a bit wishy-washy.
Unlike those that prefer a more authoritarian approach. Need I say republicon, libertarian, fascist, russian, or even religious zealotry?

(13,303 posts)had to make decisions for other people in recent years unfortunately. I have doubted myself, but knew it was my responsibility. Its certainly not what I preferred, but it was my duty and responsibility. Have second guessed myself several times, but at least I have a couple of people who have backed my decisions.

(58,437 posts)We're all better off if I don't butt in, and much better off if I don't let the government butt into what are important, life-affecting decisions women make. Let women seek whatever counseling they choose, but for god's sake, let her choose.
Goes for marriage, too, and a whole host of things.

(17,000 posts)simply making it this far. My "Survivor's Victory Lap" continues, at least 'till this day. Probably more by accident then by choice and good decision-making.
But one decision I'm consistently proud of is my lifetime affiliation with the Democratic Party.

(2,934 posts)that if the Republicans ever had political principles that I could align with, I'd vote for them. In the over fifty years of my voting life they never have. And now they don't have any principles at all.
