Raise your guard. The diner here this morning is electrically quiet with murmurs and whispers. My usual seat at the far left of the counter was covered in a garbage bag and my usual order was served to me in a to go box. On top of their fearless leader being raided We tragically had a 24 year old officer shot and killed by a black gang member he pulled over on the highway on the outskirts of town last weekend at 3am. The first officer to die in 90 years

were just concerned about defusing any trouble that didn't happen. I'm sure it's not happening in most areas.
I guess our area of GA is too dark red for people to get that heated up over their neighbors, although of course a minority of those who know our politics will give nasty looks, or more often not look.
Now I understand why discussing politics was avoided in the good old days -- not because most people couldn't discuss civilly but because society still remembered from hard experience the ugliness inside some and that it needed to stay hidden and oxygen-deprived.
Sounds like you may need to let things cool down a bit in your little neck, though. Take care. Go to Starbucks or Panera.
