(5,721 posts)Simply copypasting the URL is easy and provides direct access to the conversation; I don't know why so many posters adamantly refuse to do it (apart from instances in which they don't want to provide rightwankers with traffic).

Key points:
1. Youre not posting an image per se, but a LINK to a servers asset, and some servers dont like that, or require some arcane codes after the images name - which DU will strip off.
2. DU only supports a plain link, so if the images link works in its own browser window, DU might render it in a post (use preview option to test).

(56,828 posts)is that traditionally, the FBI has been a conservative organization, and that accountants (be they in the IRS or elsewhere) are generally pretty conservative as a group as well. So, you would think that conservatives would be supportive of these organizations.

Hold the criminals accountable while we still have laws and a democracy in place.

(7,808 posts)But this is exactly what rethugs believe in all seriousness.
There are worse things that created precedents:
- Ken Starr and his kangaroo court, starting with a real estate investment deal that went bad, a suspicious suicide, and some sexual accusations.
- Ten separate investigations on the Benghazi attack by the FBI, 5 House committees, and the State Department.
- Watergate: burglary, clandestine listening devices, conspiracies. 22 convictions
- Iran-Contra: selling arms to an embargoed enemy country and giving the proceeds to a central American terrorist group. All convictions got off on a technicality or were pardoned.
Perhaps rethugs really are upset about such "insignificant, nothing-to-see-here" nonsense like Watergate, Iran-Contra, and Dennis Hastert that we evil Democrats investigated and punished. The accusations that rethug minions keep shouting in accusation at our side have their indicted and convicted counterparts with their own past. As Newt Gingrich taught them, it is better to name an enemy and accuse them - loudly and repeatedly - of what they themselves have done without regret.
Well well well... history really does rhyme!

(8,703 posts)Set me off. Glad it was what it was. So sick of GQP using that. If Dems do not crime, there are no issues. If crimes are committed follow the law, Apply to all. And If continuous abuse of meaningless investigations occur, there should be consequences. I like that. Follow the law, applies to all.
Yes Ari had a piece on his show last night about accountability notbeing dangerous and how it wasn't really a unique precedent

We have to do better dont let anyone get away with saying Our long national nightmare is over, because it most emphatically is not, until generals and would-be kings hear the prison doors clang shut.

(5,366 posts)Republicans are shouting 'Not Fair!', and think that if they push hard enough, everyone will see it their way, that rules are an optional thing for them, and can be ignored or substituted with their own rules.
Dems of course, need to know and stick to the rules. In republican opinion only, of course.
As if their tears and demented cries of woe mean anything. Or will change anything.
Trump is a private citizen, if he holds classified documents at Mar-a-Lago he inappropriately removed from the White House when he was demoted, there will be hell to pay.
Please let it be so!
There are lots of unbalanced things in American society. Trump doing a perp walk will right one of those things.
