Farewell, Mar-a-Lago

I have it somewhere, but not in front of me, that one of the penalties for spying is forfeiture of the premises where the spying was done. The boxes were in the basement of Trump's home. So, if convicted, he could completely lose his ridiculously elaborate, gold-encrusted home.

We should keep the mansion, disinfect it, and let Miss Ruby and her daughter manage it. They could have some fun running tours to the basement. Later, the daughter can use a room or two to house her campaign for office. IMO, this would be a fitting end result for calling her a cheater at the polls.

When looking at Mar-a-Lago it's 100% necessary to remove the topic of Trump.

Trump had NOTHING to do with the planning, design, architecture or construction.

Built in 1927, it's an AMAZING piece of Florida history and an architectural gem ranked #5 on the list of 100 most notable Florida architectural designs.

Don't like the look or design?

That's the original 1920's influence that is still visible today.

I wish people could separate the current owner from the property...

It's MAGNIFICENT if you appreciate architecture and period interior design.

He just owns it and lives there. The real history of MAL goes back to 1927. And it's magnificent.

security nightmare. Gave it back to the Post Foundation 8 years later.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar-a-Lago

Federal government and foundation

Post, who died in 1973, willed the 17-acre (6.9 ha) estate to the United States government as a Winter White House for presidents and visiting foreign dignitaries.[15] Richard Nixon preferred the Florida White House in Key Biscayne, however, and Jimmy Carter was not interested. The federal government soon realized the immense cost of maintenance, and the difficulty maintaining security for diplomats,[16] and returned it to the Post Foundation in 1981. It was then listed for sale for $20 million. Dina Merrill and Post's two other daughters did not maintain the property in the meantime, anticipating a sale,[17] but there was so little interest that its demolition to build smaller homes was approved.[18]
