I just can't imagine how they are handling the news of the day from NYAG James.

(51,582 posts)They speak in tRump code words. I'm thinking of the glossary for an, old of date gangster film. James Cagney would be able to interpret their lingo.

Hearing teevee hosts call them "kids" infuriates me. No excuses for these almost or more than 40 year olds.

Melania is probably the sad one....

(35,643 posts)She put in all those years with that creep and they might repeat might let her have a modest house to live in.
No trump tower. No maralardo. No bedminster.
That $250 million theyre seeking to repay the taxpayers? Tonight on one of the political shows a commentator said the scam could run as much as $500-750 million, so this could easily eat up a big chunk of his empire, not to mention that lawyers will take a big bite, too.
Remember Bernie madoffs wife Ruth? They left her with enough to drive a 20 year old Toyota Corolla. Also live in a modest house.

(46,771 posts)If you recall Melania initially released a press statement saying she was going to continue to live in NYC
because of her son's school. That was the first shot of the negotiation.
She received a nice cash settlement, or stock options? real estate? to pretend to be the First Lady.
(She was in love with someone else and planning a divorce.)
I wonder if that money is fair game in the civil lawsuit??

(46,771 posts)I wish sometimes her designers would do better tailoring the pieces, however.
Maybe there is not enough time for final fittings.
But Jill picks out nice designs. And her body parts are covered and the outfit is always perfectly suited to the occasion.
Melania is not bad in terms of clothing fashion, but all of her plastic surgery to change her body shape makes clothes
hang funny on her.
Melania has no sense of occasion, appropriate attire, dignity, etc.
Who can forget her planting a tree on the WH lawn in spike 6 in heels, full swing skirt and revealing blouse.
She looked ridiculous.

Frustrated because their dad can't be tamed and can't stay on script even in a situation like this.
Pissed off because they feel like all of this could have been avoided had their dad just been content with being a reality star clown.
Wondering how they will support themselves going forward. Although Ivanka has a lot of side (criminal) hustles.

(19,001 posts)I think people would be shocked to learnt that although this family is remarkably corrupt and criminal, much of the way they do business is standard practice for the rich. Zero ethics, screw everyone you ever do business with over and just hire good lawyers to deal with it. There's a total lack of morality, this is not unusual in rich families.
Here in my own city, Grand Rapids, we have a few billionaire families, they are ruthless too. It's all about getting over on everyone, it's all about breaking the rules and litigating the consequences. There is no shame, everything is a chance to make money, everything is leverage, even charities are used to pad the bottom line. And once you get some power, it gets worse and worse, no one who ever did business with the Trumps ever came away happy, save for maybe the Saudis and Russians.
Have my own experience with doing business with the Devos/Van Andel families. Worked for a company who contracted a laser light show when a local arena had its grand opening. The Van Andel family (founded Amway with Devos) chipped in $10M for the naming rights to our new downtown arena, the public funded the other $70M. In exchange for the $10M, they didn't just get naming rights, they got a 25 year contract to run the arena, so they've made several times their money back. Well, they were a nightmare to do business with, they signed deals and then tore them up because their lawyer would find some clause they didn't like. We were a small company, this was a huge deal for us and they knew it. We were already out of pocket for deposits on equipment and technicians, so we really had no leverage. They ended up lowballing us a week before the show was going to happen, and we had no choice but to accept. It was everything we could do to come out almost even on the deal, we spent 100s of hours on the deal, that we thought would bring in $12K in profit or so and ended up losing like $1000 on the deal. We got to be there for the opening at least, saw Kristy Yamaguchi skate a coupe short routines and it was a fun night, but they didn't have to do us like that, they just realized somewhere along the way that they could and so they did.
And that's how every single business deal the Trumps have ever done has gone. They never pay, the renegotiate at the last minute, they leverage. There's no honor, there's no ethics, it's just screw over everyone to enrich yourself. That's what happens all across our country over and over in business. There are honest business people out there, and there are even honest wealthy people, but there are a lot of Trump like families too, just screwing everyone over every chance.

(35,643 posts)it brings out the worst in so many people.
Particularly in a country like the US, which has television to brainwash so many people, it has the power to bring down the house (meaning bring down the world). It's unsustainable, yet so few realize this is the root of the problem.
Our values are so off. We're taught we have to have material success to be happy and nothing could be further from the truth. A simple walk in nature can bring about happiness, but the way we're behaving, nature is turning on us.
