(7,077 posts)All rescues/strays/shelter kitties, except the one that started it all, in 1959, before I was born. My mom and dad adopted a kitten from a friend whose cat had had a litter and discovered that they were both massive cat fans.

(58,785 posts)attacked any dog that came in sight who turned them into a habit. She'd shown up pregnant, had 5 kittens a couple days later, and made getting a dog impossible for the next 14 years.
Except for a kitten I once brought home when my husband was very unhappy at moving to a cold winter, ours have all been abandoned or feral who found us. Never more than 5 at a time, though. Our friend retired before getting serious about it and now has 14, but her husband figures if it keeps her happy...

(58,785 posts)to a guy who's "deathly" allergic to cats. HE just got engaged to a beautiful girl whose mother's hobby since retirement is taking in cats. Zero angst, problem over before it began.
For some reason our friends were down to 13, but this little girl is 14. She was sleeping on the husband's lap when mine dropped over this afternoon.
No doubt many distressed pets are being taken in, temporarily and permanently, by caring people, many more to come, after this.

(12,463 posts)Are beautiful people. Honors for that guy walking in a hurricaine in swift water to save that perfect furbaby.
If I saw a cat outside in a hurricaine you bet my ass would be walking over to save it.
If trump was outside in a hurricaine walking in swift water.. I would trip him or make him fall into that water and be washed out. Hopefully drowned.
Ooops I stumbled..
