(12,369 posts)you can either:
A. Alert on a thread you think is inappropriate or violates the TOS,
B. Not read it, or,
C. Use the Trash option.
Other than that.............

(698 posts)Agree that members can do better than, say, posting a TMZ photo of a miserable TFG at Tiff's wedding rehearsal. Really?
I don't want to see every moment of TFG's worthless life. I don't watch OAN and Fox for the same reason.

(38,553 posts)Just saying.
Like it or not he's part of the news narrative.
And there are those of us who like to keep tabs on him. Some would argue that it would be dangerous to not pay attention to his antics. He's like a little toddler--leave him unattended and he's likely to burn the house down.

(7,839 posts)The man is a human embodiment of the Big Lie. Ofc the big lie feeds on repetition.
To my way of thinking, silly as it may be, dont feed the animals.
In example, the Clorox remedy to Covid wasnt a mistake or an idiot blabbering, the comment was purposely meant as being such a big lie it would be repeated for years with his name attached
and so it was. Mission accomplished.
MissMillie
(38,553 posts)That thing went viral in the media all on its own. That's what made it newsworthy--and thus fair game for discussion on DU.
Reading about it on DU did provide some of us DUers with some comic relief. No, it's not funny that some people actually took him seriously, but it is noteworthy that some people took him seriously. And it IS funny that he actually believed that he had a good idea.
It WOULD be nice if the filters worked for you. One of the reasons the filters don't work is because people don't put context into the titles of their posts. That's something I have posted about many times, to no avail.
As much as I like DUers, my nearly 20 years of membership has taught me that I can't get them all to behave (in their post titles) the way I wish they would.

(4,170 posts)Yesterday was like reading the tabloids. "Trump might have lied about his height!" "Gilfoyle cut out of pic!" "Trump uses thumbs up in wedding pic!" The horror of it all!
Breathless stories like this have zip-all to do with politics.

(9,670 posts)If the title has something to do with a rogue statement he made on social media, I'm not interested either.
But if the thread says that "Trump indicted by DOJ on several charges", I will read it and every single thread about it for the coming months and years. He's still alive, he's still free, and until one or the other changes, I'm keeping one eye open.

(1,779 posts)the bigger problem is I can't use the auto-trash filter because instead of using his name, some use made-up kindergarden names for him. You can't really filter for all of them without a lot of work.

(11,736 posts)Trump, until he is gone, is the de facto head of one of the two major political parties in the United States. Granted, there is a great deal of salacious information, but that is what gets eyes. He is news. He has sway over a good amount of the Republican base. What he says and does has an effect on the country so he will continue to get coverage.
I only read very few threads and respond to even fewer. I may click on a thread, but usually know where it is going after the first sentence, or sometimes from the title. It is a good skill to develop.
