Today in Labor History Jan 15 (no labor is really menial unless you're not getting adequate wages)

http://www.workdayminnesota.org/index.php?history_9_01_15_2012

January 15, 1929 - Birthdate of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In addition to his contribution to the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s, King was an earnest crusader for labor, particularly municipal and hospital workers. Quote from King: "We look around every day and we see thousands and millions of people making inadequate wages. Not only do they work in our hospitals, they work in our hotels, they work in our laundries, they work in domestic service, they find themselves unemployed. You see, no labor is really menial unless you're not getting adequate wages."
