When Trump announced he is running, he also announced a major national security threat.
Himself. Garland and every prosecutor investigating Trump know he is guilty. They know he stole secret documents, attempted a coup.
They know Trump should never be allowed near the White House ever again. Trump running for president is a major national security threat and the majority of the American people know it. In my opinion, Garland appointed a special prosecutor in direct response to Trumps announcement. This told me the investigations are moving full steam ahead towards indictments. Some people are comparing this special counsel to Mueller. That is a false comparison. The Mueller investigation was limited in scope. Trump was president and AG Barr buried the Mueller report. None of that is true in this case. I must also say this again, the investigations have not been taking too long. Garland did not take office until March 2021. At best he has been investigating Trump for 18 months. Being these are the largest most sensitive investigations in our history, 18 months is not too long. This is just a guess. I believe we will see Trump indicted in the secret document investigation first. It will not take long for the special counsel to be briefed on that case. That is not really a complicated case. They have smoking gun evidence when it comes to obstruction of justice. Trump defied a grand jury subpoena. That is a felony. They found documents in his office and desk so Trump has no defense. Some DU members have said they wish Trump would die and be gone forever. I would not complain if that happens. Trump has been disrupting our country and our lives for too long. If he died it would be a great relief.

1. It's dreadful to wish someone dead
but as long as Trump is around, his cult will persist in disrupting our democracy. I don't think anyone else has the (I hate to call it) charisma he has for the stupid citizens among us. I agree--he has to go, the sooner the better, whether through death or imprisonment. If he's put in jail, though, for his obvious, egregious crimes, he might be able to carry on, as a martyr. It is a cult, and without its Beloved Leader, I don't think it will survive.

9. I dont think MAGAs want someone smarter, better educated and more focused...they want Trump.
For some inexplicable reason, perhaps it's his "charisma," they are still in thrall to Trump. His schtick might be wearing thin right about now, but his followers don't seem to care. You have to give Trump his due; the guy is a consummate bullshit artist and a highly skilled con man. DeSantis has positioned himself as the most likely Trump substitute; he's meaner, nastier, crueler, more arrogant, a bigger bully and a more virulent racist, but he's not Trump.
I watched DeSantis address a crowd in Miami; he said all the right things, but he failed to stir up the same emotions and passions. The man is dull, boring, humorless, far too earnest and "sanctimonious." The Republican establishment and rightwing media believe DeSantis will appeal to the same crowd, but I don't think he'll be able to replace Trump in their hearts. They'll vote for him, but they won't love him. |

Any National Security threat he poses is because of something he stole already. nt

20. It was totally obvious Trump was running for well over a year.
If they think Trump is a national security threat, he hasn’t been treated as such - not at all. And not now.
